« Will Randolph be fired? Minaya's not saying ... | Main | Omar stays with Willie »

Mets ownership "bitterly disappointed."

cover.jpgThe Mets issued this statement today from COO Jeff Wilpon:

"On behalf of Fred [Wilpon], Saul [Katz] and myself, all of us at the Mets are bitterly disappointed in failing to achieve our collective goal of building upon last year's success. We did not meet our organization's expectations -- or those of our fans.

"We will continue our commitment in providing the resources necessary to field a championship team. We will be meeting with Omar [Minaya] shortly for him to present his plan on addressing our shortcomings so that we can achieve our goal of winning championships in 2008 and beyond.

"Our fans deserve better results. We thank them for their record-breaking support this season."

From a long time Braves fan to the Mets....Thanks, Tom !!!!! You showed them the same "let down" at the perfect time just like you gave to us on several needy occasions. You win the coveted " Old Glove "
award !!!

You Mut fans would be silly to ask for Willies head. You have no idea on what to do with a good thing (no not reyes and wright,....willie). maybe his winning ways with the Bombers can rub off if you get rid of the Los Locos and start building around Wright. Reyes, you will never be Jeter.

"When the lights,
go down, in Flushing..."

sing'em if you know'em

Doug, are you kidding? The guy bleeds braves colors and you slam him? Typical Braves fan.

Meet the Muts, this Mets fan here agrees with you. Mets fans are so fair weathered it's disgusting. I would like to know what pictures Omar has on the Wilpons, maybe a foot under a bathroom stall? who knows?

What I do know is calling for Willies head is the most ridiculous thing Mets fans can do right now. Omar should be first to go right now. Although I believe neither are and that is fine. But, the Wilpons need to force change from Omar for this coming year.

Back in the day those two brainless little showboats would have been b***h-slapped by veterans for not paying attention and thinking the season is all about them mugging for the camera.

Send them both to winter ball somewhere that nobody knows their names and turn them over to a drill-sargeant coach who will make them do basic stuff over and over until they know how to count outs and run hard until called out every single time.

It wasn't Willie's fault the Mets went down. The Pitching Coach and the Batting Coach should be held accountable. The bullpen was not strong enough to hold the lead when the starting pitchers worked hard to keep the opposing teams from scoring. The batting coach - Ricky Henderson is not someone I think as a strong coach. We need better coaches to help Willie get the Mets to the World Series. The bullpen needs better pitchers - get rid of Sosa, Heilman and Wagner - they are the worst I've ever seen. As for the lineup batters, they need a better coach to show them how to hit. Ricky Henderson obviously did not do the job he was hired to do.

Wow, you just dropped a real gem of knowledge there!

I am going to make this simple for you. Henderson is not HITTING Coach. HoJo is.

So you were saying die hard fan?

Dah!!!! Why does everyone think Ricky Henderson is the hitting coach?yes he was hired at the time Rick Downs was fired. But thankfully Willie had good sense not to let Ricky be the hitting Coach. I think one reason and one reason why Downs was fired is Omar is going hard after Jaramillo from Texas. Truthfully the Mets offence was no better under HoJo then it was under Downs. So that tells me Downs was the reason we failed to hit in Crucial situations. Poor hitting judgement by the players themselves.

atlast a comment that makes sense. terrible pitch selection, over swinging, trying to hit everything in the air by Reyes did them in. Lackof leadership by manager and veterans showed thoughout collapse
