Here's a question for Mets fans. Before this road trip began, if someone told you the Mets would get swept in four games by the Phillies, but rebound to sweep the Braves at Turner Field, would you have signed on for that? My bet is yes.
There's also a theory floating around this morning that it's hardly a coincidence the Mets are 2-0 since Pedro Martinez arrived. Maybe it's the Pedro Principle. With the Mets reeling after Philly, the focus immediately switched to Martinez on Friday, which helped the team avoid a barrage of questions about their predicament. Instead, the Mets got Pedro bouncing around the clubhouse, making everyone laugh. The diversion seems to have worked.
It will be interesting to see who the Mets use as their Friday starter. If Orlando Hernandez is ready after his cortisone shot, it will be El Duque, which would then deny Mike Pelfrey an encore performance. It seems more likely, however, that Hernandez will need some extra time and Pelfrey will get another chance.
