For openers, something fishy for 2008

billy.jpgThe Mets will open the season on the road -- again -- in 2008 when they visit the Marlins on Mar. 31 at Dolphin Stadium. At least it's an easy commute from their spring training home in Port St. Lucie straight down Route 95.

It's the fourth time in five years the Mets will have kicked off the season on the road, with their only recent home opener coming in 2006. They started in Atlanta in 2004, Cincinnati in 2005 and St. Louis this season.I can only imagine they will be allowed to start at home in 2009 for Citi Field.

Also, the Sept. 22 game vs. the Marlins in Florida has been moved to 3:55 p.m. to accommodate the national Fox broadcast. Not sure why they would do that. The Fish have been fried for months now and the Mets could have the division wrapped by then as well.

Why would they want to start the season at home in 45 degree weather when they could play a couple warm-weather series on the road?
