Carlos Beltran suffered an abdominal strain on his left side during batting practice and was removed from the lineup about 30 minutes before game time. No word from the Mets or Beltran on how serious an injury it is. Lastings Milledge started in centerfield.

What is it with outfielders getting hurt this year? Is Pete Flynn not cutting the grass enough?
Mets need to fire their trainers. Something's wrong with all these 'going-through-the-motion' injuries.
Yhe other day I was wodering who was the bigger baby on the Mets? Well I think Beltran has pulled in front of Alou' now. This guy is 100% wimp. Every year at about this time he gets hurt, and misses a bunch of time. I bet he misses at least a week now. His lack of a spine and any testosterone is why the Mets need to get another power bat for the outfield. Beltran can not be counted on to stay in the line-up and play everyday. He needs to sit at least 2 days a week in order to stay healthy. You'd think with him getting the money he is, he'd spend some of it on staying in shape. It's no surprise why the Mets can't get on a prolonged winning streak, when Omar pins the teams success on Beltran.
