So the A's are here for the final weekend of interleague play. It's Oakland's first visit to play the Mets here since the 1973 World Series, which is either third or fourth in Mets' World Series history.
If you don't know much about the '73 series, try this link:
Let's try this for the weekend poll: Rank the Mets' World Series appearances, from your most favorite to least favorite.
The choices are 1969, 1973, 1986 and 2000.
Obviously, 69 and 86 are the best, but in what order?
And 2000 or 73? Which World Series was more fun for Mets fans, even though the Mets lost?

My favorite Met World Series: in order,
#1 2007
#2 1986
#3 1969
#4 1973
#5 2000 (Most painful)

NLCS: three favorite
#1 2007
#2 1986
#3 1973
Most painful: 1988

Glavine back on track.
True met fans were never worried,
Seems like the offense had a breakout game and they are on the right track.
I wish I would never hear the name Alou associated with the Metropolitans again. Pretend that he doesn't exist, which isn't too far from the truth, and suddenly you feel so much better!!!
Reyes y Beltran will lead the way.......Lets go Mets!

I stayed in a suite at the Oakland A's ballpark v the Cardinals. I know that the Mets signed a deal with Aramark, but let me tell you--man, after the game I spent the next 3 hours glued to the pot. Those brats must be made of prunes.
Anyway, the stadium was pretty cool not great, suite was cool too. They do two things at McAfee that I thought was awesome. When they announce each umpire the fans scream "OH NOOOO" after each name. Very funny. Also between innings---it is peaceful, no blaring music! I forgot what that was like!
But as far as the Cards--that kid Chris Duncan (I think he is the son of the pitching coach) he can hit and he has a powerful swing. He hit a grandslam and the next atbat he hit a seed that was 6 inches foul from another homer. Guy has found the tools to be a solid player. I think he can be incredible. I wonder if Omar can package a deal for him. I believe he is arbitration eligible soon and he will be looking for a deal, maybe Omar can get in there and get him on the Mets.

Easy.

1) '69 is tops. This city was insane.

2) '86 will always be the wildest year and Series. Game 6 of the NLCS stopped this city in its tracks at rush hour until Jesse got that third strike.

3) '73 got everybody nuts, considering we had no right being anywhere near that Series. Took a powerful A's team to Game 7, and we almost stole the whole thing.

4) 2000, I'm sorry, kinda went by in a blur. Never seemed to live up to the Subway hype. I can't even recall half the roster anymore. Maybe it was the dopey black unis.

'73 Series was memorable if for nothing else, the four games in Oakland were all played during the day.

'73 was the first year I really followed baseball and I thought the Mets would be in the WS every year. I was only off by 32 seasons.
