Just heard a loud crack of thunder here at Shea at 6:33 p.m.
The tarp is on the field and it's raining heavily, as it has been since about 4:00.
We'll let you know if and when this game is going to begin.
In the meantime, why don't we all start thinking about this weekend's Subway Series. What are your predictions? Mets sweep? Mets take two of three? Yankees take two of three? Yankees sweep? All three games rained out? Let us know.

Mets - vs Yanks...I remember sitting in the 'New' Shea Stadium for a Mayor's Trophy Game....there were no seats left, so they let us in and we sat on the steps on the upper deck.....I believe Yogi played in that game.....way long time ago....but it was a thrill.
Mets don't need the wins like the Yankees do (sort of a switch, Huh!), but their superiority will prevail...Mets sweep 3 by a landslide!

I would like to say Mets sweep, but with Ollie's win one/lose one streak, he's due to drop a game. I'll say Mets 2 out of 3, but they really *should* sweep them and win easily.
Oh, and even better, I'm looking forward to the BoSox kicking the holy hell out of the Bravos this weekend. Which will keep the Bravo fan from showing up and talking for a few days, because they won't have that WHOPPING 1/2 GAME LEAD they keep building.
And hey, you know what's funny? The Mighty Nationals have 14 wins (soon to be 15) this year, and 4 of them (soon to be 5) are against those powerful Braves. Yeah, I'm scared of them.

I think the Mets will win 2 out of 3. Glavine and Maine and pray for rain!
How about these young guys? I get scared every time I see a lineup filled out with Gomez, Newhan, Gotay, etc., but they are really delivering in a big way. This is such a fun year. And I think going toe-to-toe with the Braves all year will better prepare us for the post-season.
