It's one and done for Chan Ho Park. Unimpressed with Monday's start, the Mets quickly optioned Park back to Triple-A New Orleans this afternoon and called up reliever Lino Urdaneta. Of course, that doesn't answer the question of who's going to start Saturday here against the Diamondbacks -- the Mets haven't announced anyone yet -- but Jorge Sosa is the favorite. As for Urdaneta, he was 1-0 with six saves and a 5.84 ERA in 10 appearances for the Zephyrs. Should be a short stay, however, with Urdaneta likely to be shipped out as soon as the Mets call up a starert for Saturday.
Update: The Mets made a correction. Park cannot be optioned, so he was designated for assignment, meaning that he has to accept a demotion to New Orleans. Assistant GM John Ricco said today that the club is hopeful he will and they should get a decision from Park shortly.

I believe Jorge Sosa should be given every opportunity.
I am surprised as a veteran that Park accepted reassignment. Surely someone can find a home for him. I have never heard of Urdanetta. Who the heck is he ?David, where did he come from, how old is he and what does he feature?
Anybody know?
KEVIN MULVEY: 4.84 Era
FERNANDO MARTINEZ: .253
CARLOS GOMEZ: 100 AB, O HR
OMAR MINAYA,
DEAL OR NO DEAL?
Lino Urdaneta: 10 games. 7.88 ERA. OMG!
The New Orleans Zephyrs most compelling prospect for sure. Is Willie going to even dress him for the game? I hope not, let 'em sit in the stands so he can at least have a beer and some brats and enjoy the game.
Philip Humber 4.94 Era
Adam Bostick 7.43 Era
Who is the pitching coach at New Orleans? Pete Incaviglia ?
What is up with all the earned run averages at triple A, did the team go to Colorado Springs on a road trip.
Go Mets!
The PCL is a reknown hitters league. The ballparks are very hitter friendly, so the pitcher's numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt.
All I've heard about Urdaneta is that in his one major league appearance his ERA is infinity. September 4, 2004, in a game the Tigers were already losing 8-2 (and would eventually lose 26-5,) Mr. U enters with one out, and the bases loaded. The result:
Walked in a run.
RBI Single.
2 RBI Single.
RBI Single.
Infield Single.
RBI single.
Hit the showers.
The next pitcher then proceeded to allow all three of those inherited runners to score before getting out of the inning, with the bases still loaded.
Urdaneta has never seen a big league mound again.
Career Line:
0.0IP, 5H, 6R, 6ER, 1BB, 1K.
On the plus side, he threw 20 of 26 pitches for strikes. Of course, they were all apparently hittable :)
For what it's worth, ESPN.com lists Saturday's probable pitcher as Sosa, while MLB.com lists Sele.
Hey Rocko, Urineta got the one strikeout, give him some credit. Don't be captain negative.
I think that "Urineta" is the trade bait for that bag of baseballs Omar's been trying to acquire.
Hey professor positive, about Urdineta or Urineta, basically he stinks. It can't be the best option at this point. If Vargas can't be called up now, then someone should take Omar to task for trading away Henry Owens ans Lindstrom. Oh, and Henry is now the "closer" for the Florida Marlins. Good job Omar.
