Manny D and L-Millz

manny.jpg I know John Maine just suffered his first loss of the season, Cliff Floyd banged out three hits against his former team and Carlos Zambrano, the Mets' No.1 starter next year, turned in a nifty eight-inning audition at Shea this evening. But let's not lose sight of the fact that Lastings Milledge is on the verge of rap superstardom.

The Mets were not thrilled today to hear Milledge rapping with Manny D on a track called "On Ya Knees" that includes sexist language about women and liberal use of the N-word. MIlledge, or "L Millz" as he's called on the web site, apparently is a friend and manager of Manny D. It's always good for a player to have options if baseball doesn't work out, but the Mets surely wish his outside interests were a little more PC.

LM is acting his age. Since he is DL'd at AAA I expect this to blow over quickly. He seemed to get his act together in the clubhouse. If so, expect a quick apology and no repeats. If he's decided he has better opportunities in another organization we might see a tour.

Honestly, I say more power to him. Branching out, making money. I know why they are concerned but, I don't think that they should be in my opinion.

buh bye, L-Millz.
Omar will send you packing.

So, where's all the outrage?
Where's Rev. Al?

Haven't heard the music, but from the Website it seems like, if Lastings is going to associate himself with rap music, maybe this is the best case scenario:

While Manny D may have set a great deal of aspirations in his life, his greatest goal is to create positive music, which, he says, is “something that most rap music is lacking.” His sheer force as an athlete, combined with his smarts formed in college, and humble approach as a result of his roots are enough to produce a positive transformation in rap music, as well as the music industry as a whole.

After achieving his goals and financial success, the rapper whose spare time activity is dancing, has goals of forming his own foundation for kids that aren’t fortunate enough to have a role model in their lives. “My main focus is kids because the world is changing fast. I want to model my foundation after Big Brothers Big Sisters.”

I think that rap music is for idiots.
There are generations of people who are being removed from society.
I live in Richmond CA.
on every corner, at every BART station, at every neighborhood store, I see young minority men, dressed not to go to work, not dressed for an interview, going nowhere, no ambition, smoking illegal stuff and always listening to rap music.
Time to change your fate boys, get a job,
forget about the rap lifestyle,
and fight the real fight
the fight for your humanity,
love,
and power.

Get him off the team. I'm sick and tired of this. Maybe they can package him with Mota.

If Don Imus goes,
so does Lastings Milledge.
You cannot pick and choose,
who you forgive,
and who you let slide.
This is both a financial consideration,
and a question of public awareness.

Ok you little minds...lets fry Lastings. He is a poor uneducated black kid and he makes mistakes that hurt himself no one else.Dont tell u little minds never made mistakes. Go after the druggies and cheaters not some kid who has to find his way.

Actually, Lastings comes from a good brackground; one of the reasons that more should be expected from him.

I agree - send him with Mota to the Royals for some pitching.

I personally know both Lastings and Manny. I think its very sad that the media has made them out to be something they arent. Were all young and even if we do have our mistakes havent we all? Music is supposed to be expressed in all sorts of ways. Please let us have our day just as everyone had theres. Especially all of you older folks I've heard about the 70's. U all werent angels.

What the f*ck is wrong with rap? Let the guys do their thing. I'm not even a Mets fan and I think that the Mets should think badly about this, but it's not their decision. LMillz can do whatever the f*ck he wants with his life. Manny D the same. 2pac's mother probably didn't want him to rap at first; now she's making millions off of his posthumous albums. EVERY rapper, at some point in their career, will talk of sex, alcohol, drugs, violence, and street life at some point in their career. You're talking about a guy in Lastings Milledge who allegedly had sex with teen girls in his high school and got expelled due to that. I am not surprised that he'd rap. And I've heard him, and he actually sounds good. Everyone who has a problem with this should just let it go and let my nigga rap.
