Think getting rained out twice in two days is easy? David Wright was so restless once the Mets arrived at the team hotel on Sunday that he watched the NCAA womens bowling championship between Vanderbilt and Maryland Eastern Shore. Wright, an avid bowler himself, was riveted.
"HoJo called me and said, 'Turn on ESPN2," Wright said. "We were about to go to dinner."
That brought up a discussion with reporters about the best bowling movie -- Kingpin or The Big Lebowski. Wright picked Kingpin, but Aaron Heilman yelled over and cast his vote for The Big Lebowski. Both movies are outstanding in their own way, but I have to give the nod to Kingpin in the head-to-head matchup.
As for non-bowling issues, the rain allowed the Mets to juggle their pitching rotation, and they pushed back Oliver Perez for a little more "fine-tuning." Here's how it shakes out over the next six days:
Tom Glavine, John Maine, Orlando Hernandez, Mike Pelfrey, Oliver Perez and back to Glavine again.
By the way, Vanderbilt prevailed, 4-3.

Kingpin over the Dude? I don't think so. Kingpin is funny, TBL is a classic. You're talking gorganzola when it's clearly bree time, baby!
Agreed. I love Kingpin, but this really isn't a contest. Kingpin is a great comedy but Lebowski is in the pantheon of great movies.
Heilman shoulda said "yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion, man."
No way dude. Here is solid, undeniable, proof why Big Lebowski is the superior movie...

Who cares!
Can we get some game day stuff?
To be fair, Bill Murray was sublime in "Kingpin." One of my favorite lines ever was when his character wins the big tournament at the end and yells, "BIG ERN'S FINALLY ABOVE THE LAW!"
Big Lebowski is definitely the better movie, but Kingpin is ALL about bowling, not just bowling-related.
Therefore in my book, Kingpin is the better BOWLING movie.
let's go mets!
The instructor I share my office with ... well, I shouldn't say this, but he wrote his master's thesis on The Big Lebowski. At Mizzou. Vanessa Angel makes Kingpin rule, along with "Disco Inferno" by The Tramps. What more could a movie goer ask for?
