Mets Anthem Search Seeks Five Winners to join List of Previous Anthem Singers Marc Anthony, Diana Ross, Sheryl Crow, June and Johnny Cash, Wyclef Jean, Glenn Close, Rhianna, Aaron Neville, *NSYNC, Cyndi Lauper, The Casts of Spamalot, The Color Purple, And The Wedding Singer, and Many Others


FLUSHING, N.Y., March 25, 2007 – The New York Mets today announced they will hold the 2007 Mets Anthem Search auditions Wednesday, March 28 beginning at 11 a.m. at the SportsNet New York (SNY) studios located at Sixth Avenue and 51st Street. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

The first 100 participants to arrive are guaranteed an audition and a pair of tickets to a 2007 Mets home game. All registrants will have the opportunity to select a song to perform a capella before an anthem search judges panel including singer Michael Amante, Gary Apple – host of SNY’s “Daily News Live” – and Lolita Lopez, weekend sports anchor for the CW11.

Twenty-five finalists will move on to round two at Shea Stadium the week of April 1 where they will be judged on their performance of the National Anthem from the field.

Five winners will be selected to sing the anthem prior to a select 2007 Mets home game and join the roster of previous anthem singers at Shea including Marc Anthony, Diana Ross, Sheryl Crow, June and Johnny Cash, Wyclef Jean, Glenn Close, Rhianna, Aaron Neville, *NSYNC, Cyndi Lauper, the casts of Spamalot, The Color Purple, and The Wedding Singer, and many others. Winners will also receive four box seats to the game and a Mets jersey.
