The lack of conversation recently between the Mets and Tom Glavine is becoming a bad sign. Team officials were confident they would have Glavine back in the fold by mid-November, at the latest. But with Monday's deadline to pick up the Mets' $14-million option for 2007, it looks like Glavine could easily be a free agent, and perhaps turn his attention more seriously toward signing with the Braves. Obviously, that is not a good development for the Mets, who are under the impression that Glavine will make a decision before baseball's winter meetings, which begin Dec. 4.

I'm getting tired of waiting also. Has anybody heard of an offer from the Braves? If they are the only other club Tom will pitch for, what is he waiting for? Personally, I believe Tom is also thinking retirement. Maybe reaching 300 wins is not as important as his family is.
I believe that Glavine will not return. The family is a priority for him and he will sign for less money with the Braves. There are factors that may look like he will return to the Mets but I stand by my statement.
Glavine will win at best 12 games and will want $12 million a year. That's a million per win. If he loses 6 games, that makes him a plus 6. Mets money could be spent a little more wisely.
The big hitch - will the Braves offer Glavine the kind of money he's able to get from the Mets? That's very unlikely, since the Braves have a strict spending limit and they are in a rebuilding mode. That will be a real dilemna for Glavine, who's heart still is in Alpharetta (not a bad place, either!).
if mr glavine wants to get his 300th with the braves, then so be it if it is swirling in his haed that much let him go back and agonize on the bench in august.by that time the braves will be out of it anyway.lets get some on her for the right reasons
Glavine's a 40-plus pitcher getting ready to break down. Spend the $12 million on a young arm.
And what's with Alou? Another old man in the outfield. The Mets are a team with a future. Let's not try to get there on the back of over-the-hill stars. Let Milledge play!
(Remember Melky his first year in the Bronx? Look what he became.)
C'mon, Omar, you don't really think Garcia or Vasquez will be the missing link in this rotation? Lastings in left will contribute more than either of those guys on the mound.
Good, I'm happy to see him go. Let's let the young pitchers develop, even if Omar and Willie have to do do kicking and screaming. Anyone who's talking about returning to the Braves on the night the Mets get eliminated should just go.
The Braves do not have to offer the same money as the Mets. The Mets have to pay a buyout of $3 million, so the Braves can offer less than the Mets and Glavine can still make the same money overall. I believe money is not an issue, family is and you can not put a price tag on that. I think he goes with the Braves
if the mets were smart they tell glavine to take a hike.....he's just trying to squeeze the mets for more money.
Glavine is overplaying his hand.......lets be honest. He had a very tough stretch after the all-star break and it is reminiscent of the "Al Leiter Syndrome".
One day Al Leiter became a complete nobody and lost his edge. He no longer could compete at his age.
Why doesn't Tom Glavine realize his limitations?
Glavine is really being an idiot, and he is alienating the fans and screwing up Omar.
wallace matthews was right on the money in his criticism of omar's signings and the current met roster.
I think Glavine has had enough time. If he can't make a decision, tell him goodbye.
I hate the way the Mets are kissing his behind.
