Duque down

prayingmet.jpg

Just what the Mets needed. Another injury to their pitching staff. Orlando Hernandez is now doubtful for tomorrow's Game 1 start after suffering what may be a strained right calf during today's pre-series workout. Hernandez told Newsday's Ray Sanchez that what he felt was "no cramp" but the Mets are waiting for an MRI result before making any announcement.

El Duque felt the pull while doing sprints in the outfield, and it's possible he could be out for the Division Series, if not the entire postseason. John Maine is the most likely replacement, and that would leave the Mets scrambing for a Game 4 starter, if necessary.

What do you expect the man is 58 years old.

Omar Minaya has out-thunk himself. I guess he's not the hero afterall?
Where's the pitching Omar?
What is your plan?
Tell us we could use a good laugh at you .

Several of my sources within the Met front office are saying that Tom Glavine has pulled an oblique muscle while taking a crap this afternoon, the offending turd was boxed up and taken by security for tests at Shea Stadium.
Omar Minaya stated "it must have been a big calcium deposit."
SNY has video footage of the loaf.

Hey Newsday editor: I had a funny post about how Tom Glavine pulled a lower muscle while passing a stubborn body waste. Why am I being censored here?

Your not funny.Get some help you pig.

frank you are being censored because we do not like stupid comments

Great. Now with 2 aging pitchers succumbing to injuries, Omar Minaya will almost certainly overpay for Barry Zito. Does anyone else think he has all the makings of someone who can't make it in NY?

Bob, so sorry that I hurt your feelings (yeah right) but it is clearly apparent that the ridiculous nature of the Met injuries and it's proximity to the playoffs is a direct reflection on Omar Minaya and the idiotic job he did "preparing" for the playoffs. I felt amongst met fans that after the trading deadline passed there was a let down. Was that it? Yes, it was El Duque. I always heard Omar say "go for it" but under the pressure of NY he chokes. We all had fears regarding the staff, you of all people with your sentiment should be honest
and accept what is. Mets are in serious trouble and Perez pitching well would be a stretch. I have heard of rumored deals Omar had going on but his problem was that HE HAD NO BACK-UP PLAN. Wake up.

Matt your posting is presumptious, Omar Minaya hasn't made it in New York. Period. That is a statement of fact.
Believe me, nobody cares about division titles or cheap wins....just ask Buck Showalter. He was fired, poor guy yet again. It is about the
rings. I think that Omar let his ego get the best of him. He shot for Oswalt and was left rubbing Pedro and El Duque's old body parts with snake oil.

Frank D is that really you? I'll sound like a broken record, but some of the worst deals in Mets history were done by Steve Phillips when he "went for it". Does Jason Isringausen for Kenny Rogers ring a bell? How about Terrence Long? How about Melvin Mora for Mike Bordick?

Omar did a nice job of balancing the future of the team with the present. Lastings Millege was awful this year. He's 21 and could be the next Jose Reyes or the next Alex Ochoa. If he signs Barry Zito as a free agent, we get to find that out.

MT: Simple math, if not getting another starter was the right thing to do a-la Wilford Brimley and his bowl of grits, then tell me who leaked the Oswalt deal? Answer me that please. I would like your thoughts. I think honestly....it was the Mets. It wasn't Peter Angelos, I doubt it was Tim Purpura so it must have been Omar Minaya or a person on his staff. The reasoning is that they had no back up plan, they invested and focused on one deal, and they leaked the info to shift focus away from the truth. That they overplayed their position and the staff was left vulnerable to exactly what we are seeing with these injuries.
Instead of thinking that Omar did nothing at the deadline. Me you and everybody else were salivating about the fact that "we almost had Oswalt, but mean old Angelos nixed the deal on us".
That is politics. If they leaked the info then it proves my point, that Omar's staff by their behavior is admitting that they failed to address critical needs.

FrankD Omar definitely leaked that deal, agreed. I do believe the plan was to get a pitcher on "salary dump" but none were forthcoming. Just didn't want to mortage the future for the present. So far working nicely.
