Quogue resident Jay Lockett Sears -- who appeared as a surfer in the 1959 movie “Gidget” with Sandra Dee and James Darren -- is now one of the Hamptons preeminent architects. According to an interview with Hamptons.com, Sears has designed more than 1,500 homes in the Hamptons. "His signature design style is 'one man’s path to the light,' " writes R. B. Stuart. “I always design the architecture of the houses to face south, to be in the light.” His clients include actors Michael J. Fox and Susan Lucci, soprano Kathleen Battle and the late Bob Fosse.
