Don't forget to mail in your application for the Middle Class STAR Rebate. The deadline is Dec. 31.
Long Islanders can expect to receive rebates of between $100 to $900 depending on income, town and school district, as well as the incomes of the households in the area.
Those earning up to $120,000 a year are eligible for the full rebate. It decreases for homeowners earning more before phasing out completely for those earning more than $250,000. Senior citizens are eligible for enhanced benefits.
Homeowners should have received an application in the mail with their STAR code. But if you don't have it, you can download an application from the state Tax Department's Web site, tax.state.ny.us/star/2007. You will need the name and Social Security Number of all property owners and their spouses, as well as your school property tax bill.
"Once you're in the door, if you qualify, you'll get your check eventually," said a state Tax Department spokesman.
If you have any questions, call the state at 877-6-STAR-NY.
