Two adjoining parcels in Southampton have just been put on the market for a staggering $59 million.

The property belonged to Howard Gittis, who died in September at age 73. Gittis, a lawyer by training, was vice chairman of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, Inc., as well as a close adviser to billionaire and Hamptonite Ron Perelman. He also sat on the boards of several companies, including the Jones Apparel Group, Panavision and Revlon.

The main parcel includes Westerly, Gittis’s 1929 Georgian mansion, and 12.4 acres of land on Ox Pasture Road. The adjacent 2.1 acre parcel on Captains Neck Road includes a carriage house which had been used as the caretaker’s home. At one time the property encompassed thirty acres.

Listing agent Ray Smith of Prudential Douglas Elliman says, “It's one of the largest grand estates kept in shape. It's drop dead gorgeous. It's been kept in perfect condition.”

Golfer Ray Floyd lives down the street. In June, Gittis hosted an $1,150- per-person fundraiser for presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain at the home. Gittis also owned homes in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Fla.
