The Long Island Business News reports that singer Billy Joel said that he's been buying so much real estate lately because, "I love Long Island and want to own as much of it as I can." In accepting the "master builder" award Thursday night from the Foundation for Long Island State Parks, he told the audience not to worry. Unlike previous honoree Donald Trump, who's building a catering facility at Jones Beach, he said there would not be “a 20-foot sign that says 'Joel.' Billy Joel is a very stand up guy...He is a long Islander. He grew up here on Long Island. His family is from Long Island.Billy Joel is a gentleman.. I have alot of respect for him staying on Long Island........I have been living here on Long Island for 51 years......... Where else can you go in what we have. We have north & south shores beaches, then you have The New York Islanders hockey team and New York Rangers,Then Baseball Yankees and Mets,New York Knicks,then pro soccer teams,arena footballs,and then you have New York City............I wish the very best for Billy Joel and his new wife...........Billy Joel daughter has a great voice like her dad.......I`m very proud to be Islander.

thats easy...because he can afford it, and its only getting more valuable
the more private land he has to drive drunk on ...the less probability he will crash into someone elses property hahahhaha.....i'm kiddin....he's a great guy. get at it while its on sale !
I'm a native Long Islander and so proud of our native son. All the best to Billy. And I sure wouldn't mind a big sign with his name on it, particularly on a venue billboard and tickets to the event in my hand.
Sadly, pretty soon, people like Billy Joel are going to be the ONLY people who can afford Long Island.
Billy's not only owned a lot of homes, he's crashed into many more.

Let's face it, except for NYC, Long Island has nothing that you can't get for half the price somewhere else. I feel like a sucker for staying here and being sucked dry by taxes caused by legislative mismanagement. Once real estate prices come back and I can make a few dollars on the house, it's time to go.

Congratulations Mr. Joel! More power to you. I've only been living on the Island for the last 8 years but like Mr. Joel, I love Long Island. It's agreat place to live and an even greater place to raise a family. Unfortunately it's also becoming a very expensive place to stay. Hopefully Mr. Joel can one day decide to run for some kind of political office and can make some kind of impact to assist middle class Long Islanders like myself to be able to afford living on this very beautiful Island. I know he would definetly make a brilliant politician just like the brilliant Piano Man he is. You have my vote Mr. Joel.

Long Island needs you. Its character is slowly beginning to disappear with big corporate stores, kitchens, building etc.
Yesterday we listed a cute horse farm that caters to children in the horse community. The land is now going up for sale, and unless a horse lover buys It , builders will probably break it up and build build build.

Billy Joel is a great Long Islander growing up in Long Isand was great but pircing and taxes are hurting alot of L.I. I believe he is buying all the property he can for the retirement years to sell off prices are not going down. Wilmington N.C is alot like Long Island 20 30 years ago. Shawn Skoff

bill is buying as much land as he can because its the only place in the country that will listen to his sucky elton john want to be music. no where else in the country listens to bill so he will stay where hes at to feel like hes on top of the world.
