This 7.5 acre vacant property in Southampton just sold for $35 million

Gilbert and Charlene Haroche of Stamford, Conn. created a buzz recently by putting their 263-acre estate known as Hillandale on the market for $95 million. According to the Hartford Courant, if the estate sells for anywhere near the asking price, it will more than double the highest price paid in that state for a home.

While $95 million is quite a quite a chunk of change, Hillandale is still a relative bargain, per acre, when compared to some recent sales on the on the East End of Long Island.

Earlier this year, Wall Street veteran Ron Baron reportedly paid $103 million for a 40-acre East Hampton parcel on Further Lane. In May, Kevin Sneddon of Project Real Estate told Newsday that his listing at 1320 Meadow Lane in Southampton had gone into contract. That sale has now closed and public records reveal the selling price for the 7.5 acres of vacant land to be $35 million, or nearly $5 million per acre. The buyer is listed as Meadowacre LLC.
