The Swamp

by Mark Silva

"One of the interesting questions you get in my line of work is, 'Can you name a teacher who's influenced you,'' President Bush said today at a celebration of the nation's teachers of the year. "Yeah,'' he said, "my wife.''

Wife Laura, trained and experienced as a school librarian, was out on a book tour with her daughter Jenna, Bush explained at the Rose Garden ceremony.

"I'm not suggesting that people buy it, of course,'' the president told the teachers. "It would be unseemly here in the Rose Garden.''

Barf, what a predictable cliche.

Who was it, Big Bird?!! He must not have been paying very close attention, he's more like a Dodo!!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Why not? They have to keep those roses fertilized SOMEHOW.

He's educated?

Yeah, the only reason he said Laura was because he couldn't REMEMBER any of his teachers: grade school, middle school, high school, or college. What a dork.

Georgie just loves story time! He has just graduated to Green Eggs and Ham! All of W's teachers should be summarily fired!

So Laura & Jenna go to a school in Naperville to promote reading?

There's no lack of impovershed schools in Illinois where they can truly promote reading where it's needed? Or would going to an impovershed school not benefit them by selling any books?

Typical.

Somehow when I saw the headline to this, I knew the dumbest of all in mankind's history -- the Loony Left -- would chime in with their snide, ignorant, demented little tirades. You folks are so predictable and easy!

This is reminiscent of the time during a '00 debate with Gore, Bush was asked who his fave philosopher was?
He didn't know any others, so he named 'Jesus',,,,, as a philosopher!
-
Philosophy is, of course, a man made conceit, not the son of God on Earth. (Kinda like comparing the Ten Commandments to Magna Carte, or the US Constitution.)
-
Sounds heretical to me, but I don't 'practice'.
-
Anyway, he probably can't remember any teacher in particular, so he named Laura.
-
Now we know who to blame.
