In the early-going days of the presidential campaign, the currency of the realm is cash, not votes.
Following the first quarter, the world will know how much each candidate has managed to raise from how many donors. For now, we have to take the candidates’ word for how they’re doing.
Wednesday, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) demonstrated her fund-raising prowess announcing she had raised over $1 million from nearly 15,000 supporters during a one-week online campaign spurred on by an email from former President Clinton.
Like all good candidates should, Sen. Clinton sent each of her contributors a note of thanks.
“I want to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of support you showed me during our "One Week, One Million" drive,’’ Clinton wrote. “It was an incredible success, and it means so much to me knowing that I have so many friends all over the country who are committed to our campaign.”
Last week, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) made a splash with a major Hollywood fund-raiser studded with celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Eddie Murphy and other stars. The bash raised $1.3 million.

You Obama fans should take note of Hillary's fund-raising power. As good a candidate as you think Obama may be, he'll need to be able to equal or better Hillary's treasure chest if he hopes to win the nomination.
Totally off-topic, but still of note, is the mysterious absence of one "Dale Peters." Perhaps we were right? Where have you gone Dale?

Not wishing, C. Morris, stating an eventual fact. The Clintoons had fundraising scandals throughout the 1990s and into he run as Senator. It's happened before, will happen again. Do you think Hillary will try and sell U.S. secrets to Chinese for campaign cash like Billy did? Or maybe she will sell secrets to Al Qaeda for money? What do you think?
