The campaign mailing in the accompanying photos says at least three things about the race between central Ohio Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, and Democrat challenger Mary Jo Kilroy.

1. Democrats and their allies have money. They're mailing out costly color attack pieces more than six weeks before the election.

2. This race has gotten competitive. Pryce's district which encompasses the west side of Columbus and contiguous suburbs tilts Republican and Pryce has never polled less than 60 percent in her last six general elections. But Kilroy, a county commissioner, is a proven vote-getter and has gotten traction with a message that Pryce has gotten too comfortable in Washington and too close to George Bush.

3. Gas prices move faster than a political campaign. A month of so ago, when many regions saw $3+ per gallon gas, linking Pryce to Big Oil might have packed a big punch. But with prices dropping sharply, the ad probably is closer to a jab than a haymaker.

Great ads.I would produce one that says;

If you want more dead soldiers in Iraq,want to spend another 500 bil.on Iraqi citizens,keep sending your jobs to China,more expensive healthcare,more debt for your children and grandchildren,an admin that doesn't care about the enviorment,and trying to fleece your social security from you:

Vote for Bush enabler Pryce!
