Sorry, I thought it was sad, not funny.
"Those were the days" is really very funny and TRUE
then again one could say that about all of your work
Excellent Walt! I laughed out loud.
Sad but true, it was sort of funny, clever! Hope and pray the Dems get the presidency!!!!!
The damage done to America by this administration is apalling. $3 billion a week spent on Iraq with young Americans dying so the oil companies, Haliburton and Blackstone and other corporate friends can make a lot of money is disgraceful. The complete lack of oversight which has led to so many abuses. The loss of our moral compass. Holding prisoners without basic rights for five years. The killing of innnocent civilians without a second thought. No accountability for anyone for anything. This administration is creating more hatred for America than all the rest of the administrations in the country's history. The terrorists don't hate our freedom, they hate the way we support corporate greed and dictators who oppress them. DUH!
The World will never forget what Bush, Cheney and Rice did to it.
Please vote this November.
Thanks..
Great job Walt.
I love it!
GWB Arrogant AND Incompetent
we need to remember that humour is the best medicine when we are in tough time's,i find it hilarious
Bush's domestic and foreign policies have been a diaster but I seriously doubt the Democrats will improve things. The only thing they want to do is raise taxes. Cartoon is funny thought.
The cartoon depicts some truths in its message. It is somewhat funny though.
LOL, Walt ! KEEP EM COMIN ! :)
That was soooooooooooo funny. I am still laughing. It made my day LOL
Funny :)
However, it seems to assume that Bush and Cheney *themselves* feel they are 'bogged down' in Iraq, when in fact, they planned on going in and being there eternally. Having a permanent presence in Iraq was part of the plan from the beginning. This isn't a case of incompetence - it's one of villainy.
I'm concerned that I didn't find it funny.
I wonder if it is my concern that "those days" are not going to be only memories gone by. . . .but will remain a harmful toxin in our future stream of things.
Sorry.
Not up to laughin' right now.
Thanks for trying.
Factually untrue, but funny.
Its very funny cartoonn. I like it very much.
FACTUALLY TRUE!!! You're right on.
It was entertaining, however, sad. There seems to be no true recognition from either of those clowns as to how hard the next few years will be for us. I continue to ask myself how we can once again gain respect and honor from other countries. You might ask why we care..because its our reputation and we have none except for being considered bullies because of Mr Bush and Mr.Cheney.
We are a family who is middle class, struggling with our retirement future, wondering how much we'll pay to fill our gas tanks and heat our houses. Wondering what our 401 ks and IRA's will be doing along with which one of our friends or family will hear about a death or serious wound as a result of a war in a country we know little about. Billions of our money is spent monthly on a war we want out of and no matter who wins the election there is little chance it will end soon. And I'm sick of the war being the focus of the news...
I'm sad, frustrated and wondering if my vote really matters...so thanks for the quick laugh..although it doesn't help much when I try to balance my checkbook....

remember to call gram

Why not stop by my blog and read about issues us middle class people face everyday with our families and children..
Right on, Walt! Waiting for the one relating to this ridiculous gas hike that's goin on!
so true---so sad!!! Let's let OBAMA try to improve things by electing him to be our president???
Absolutely terrible!
I warned about those CSB's from day one. Just SALT them.--Sam
I warned about those CSB's from day one.
The sad part is that this may give birth to Barak Hussien Obama who hassent got a clue of what to do !
Funny as hell. Wild Bill: what was factually untrue was all the "evidence" leading to the Iraq false war.
If anyone would like a big does of hard core left wing LIBERAL COMMUNISUM, go ahead and vote for Hussien Obama or Hillary Clinton. Then whine about high taxes and the price of gas, along with everything else, while this country is handed over to the United Nations and the Constitution and Bill of Rights is tossed out the window.
To John:
You are kidding, right? No one could be that stupid. No one. Liberal Communism? You really think that? Please...don't vote.
John
You threw the whole kitchen sink at them. I believe I know were you are coming from - I don't agree with all of it.
You need to take one issue at a time. I am willing to bet that many of the folks out there didn't understand your comment regarding hand it over to the United Nations.
Hi Steven Borte
I am no staunch supporter of this administration however I am always mystified when I hear someone make some of the comments that you wrote. I hear you say we are in Iraq for the oil. If that is indeed your claim I wonder if you could share with me some concrete evidence to support that fact. Do you have any statistics are reliable sources that can back that statement up? I am curious. I heard it's sad that we were in Kuwait for the oil. How did we get any oil from Kuwait? We didn't.
You said killing of civilians without a second thought. Now if you were to mean that Saddam killed tens of thousands of his people without second thought I could understand that statement. You're suggesting that our sons, friends, daughters, husbands, are participating in killing innocent people without giving it a second thought. I can't imagine that you mean that. You might want to rethink that statement.
It is also strange to me that you would say that the terrorists do not hate our freedom. Odd thing to say. It leads me to ask you the question do you understand the philosophy and practices of the terrorists that want to see you and I dead so they can get to heaven and meet their virgins. If you understand how these extremist Muslims function in their society you would know they suppress freedom among their own people. If you understand this I am a loss to understand why you did not think they hate our freedom. You say they hate our corporate greed. They are intolerant of any ideas other than their own.
To John: I dont know what rock you've been under for the last 8 years, but the Constitution and Bill of Rights were thrown out a long time ago, right along with rationality and common sense.
The Muslims live in a dillusional bubble that is their religion. Most of america lives in a dillusional bubble that is christianity. The world has been killing one another over differences in their dillusional beliefs for thousands of years. Now combined with that the tribal differences of suinis, shiites, and kurds that have been waring for a dozen centuries and you get the problems we see in the middle east. Combined with that the unpravoked attack of Iraq by a country believed by Muslims to be one of the worlds great oppressors and you have one hell of a mess. Now you must understand that these peoples are not going to fight a conventional war (they would not stand a chance) but a gorilla war that they can continue indefenently. In 1948 England with the backing of the US stuck it's nose into issues in the west bank and here 50 years latter we are no closer to settling those issues. Until we all see with perfect clarity and admitt that Muhamid didn't really ride a magic horse and that the story of Mary is just the retelling of the pegan story of Icess 1800 years earlier we will never find peace on earth.
John,
Is that you Doc Z.
walt is a very funny man. keep up the good work
How sad, the serious truth behind much good humor. Amazing how easily some comments failed abysmally to appreciate the sarcasm.
2 pigs in the White House
To Roy;
You don't have to dig very deep to see that this Mission NOT acomplish (war) was driven by personal interests and not the interest of the American People or the World. People like us didn't get a contract but the Bush Cheney cicrle did.
To John;
People like you make me understand how sick is this world. Do the world a favor and drink bleach.
Sincerely
Al
PLEASE - can people go to the polls in droves and negate the votes of John and Roy, and their ilk? Can we vote "smart" this time, for a change?
By their comments, it's easy to see which "news" outlets these people get their information from, what radio/TV stations they listen to.
How rich white men, and their parroting media talking heads, can convince Americans to vote against their own best interests, time after time, is beyond me.
Those where the days
John, Chevron (for whom Condileza Rice was an executive) of and BP have oil rigs in Kuwait. The foreign based company GHW Bush now works for, UNICAL has huge interests in that country. To say that oil was not a factor in the Gulf War is ridiculous and laughably ignorant. Oil was the ONLY factor. Why is it that Bush 41 sent American soldiers to fight and die to restore a Moslem theocratic monarchy that has public beheadings? I guess in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia they have "good" beheadings.
The very idea that they "Hate our freedom" is an infantile catch-phrase invented by right-wing pundits. They hate being bombed. They hate being invaded. They hate having all of their resources outsourced by foreign companies leaving them in abject poverty. They have many times told us the reason for their attacks (which have amounted to not even 1/100th of the death toll we have inflicted on them) and not once has any of them said it was because they "hate our freedom." Maybe you can show me some of your facts to prove otherwise?
The "tens of thousands" Saddam killed were mostly Kurds who were revolting --trying to overthrow their government. You try to overthrow this government by force and see if they throw pillows at you. You could just as easily say Abraham Lincoln "killed a half million of his own people." And when Saddam was committing these atrocities Rumsfeld was over there shaking his hand and the Bush administration was selling him the chemicals to do it.
According to the Red Cross and the Lancet Medical Journal, over a million Iraqis have died as a result of Bush's invasion. I'm not saying Saddam was a great guy, but for those dead Iraqis and their families and for the 4 million + refugees this war created, they were better off as Republican Ron Paul put it "living under Saddam than lying in the cold ground." With 4 thousand of our "sons and daughters" as you put now dead, and thousands more wounded Bush's policies have killed more Americans than Osama Bin Laden, and more Iraqis than Saddam.
John: What the hell are you talking about? How much were we paying for gas when Clinton was president again? And remember when we had the right to not be searched or spied on without a court order? Remember when we had positive job growth every single quarter and no recession? A balanced budget? A dollar worth more than the Canadian dollar?
I'll take LIBERAL COMMON SENSE over RIGHT WING FASCISM any day of the week. And the highest tax increase in American history was signed into law by Ronald Reagan. Look it up. Look something up for God sakes. Stop listening to GOP talk radio and Faux News. Stop being s "Ditto head" and at least try to have some independent critical thought. You can't even say Obama without repeating "Houssien" like a good little talking-point zombie.
Those were the days when we could not be searched without a court order.
Those were the days when we could not be arrested and held indefinitely without any charges.
Those were the days when self incrimination and torture were illegal.
Those were the days when our elected officials swore to uphold the Constitution - and actually did.
Those were the days before Bush stole the election and lied his way into war.
Those were the days when four thousand young men and women were still alive.
We were a better nation then. What happened? The Republicans happened.
I really hope a Dem wins...
With everything that will be raised to increase the size of government and the ability to control what you do or don't do. I can only imagine the tax burden 3 years from now if obama wins. Then and only then will you libs realize that you cant have your cake and we'll make you eat it too.
Its popular to put this administration down...thats cool...Has there been an attack on US since? There are fundamental issues that need to be address by our administration, however every time someone says something negative about our sitting president, dem or rep, it shames the country more than you realize. People from other countries laugh at us...not because of policy or mistakes in policy...Because we are so quick to judge and then stick to our guns when we are not right. Why you could use the war with bush as an example I can use Gore with Global warming.
If Bush had lied to go into war..Then why hadn't anyone said anything back then that saw the same intel...How many countries saw the same stuff? How many sitting senators and press sec.. saw the same stuff....
Ok..its all Bush...I hope...really hope...Obama gets in....Really... You want to see a ruined economy, ruined government run programs (thats a given, all gov run programs are ruined from the start), corruption, hate speak etc.. It'll be a good show...
Funny, but not too funny as it needs more truth to be really funny and the only truth here is that Walt plays to the Liberal/Dem talking points. What's really funny is the idiocy of so many leftist Americans!!!! Ha!

john II;
Yes, and that ties in with what I call the "Tax-Cutters' Dilemma":
--It seems that cutting taxes increases government revenues, because it enables and attracts more commercial and consumer economic activity, proportionately, than the Tax Cuts represent, so overall take rises. Hence the Tax Cutters' Dilemma. Such persons and even politicians are trying to reduce the size and impact of government, but the more they cut taxes, the greater its revenue and resources. Since it is not possible not to use those resources (even saving is a form of investment, in others' hands) the impact and power of government is thereby increased.
So it comes down to: cut taxes or reduce government size; Pick One. In order to reduce government's impact, it is necessary to raise taxes until revenue falls to the point that government is cutting back everything in sight in order not to go bankrupt (after a stiff run of deficit spending, granted). So Less is More! More is Less!
Aren't God's Little Ironies amusing?--
