I think the cartoonist was very tasteful and right on the money. Bush is a monkey face idiot that only is for himself. All he wants is money and power. He doesn't care about the American people. George Bush senior is even ashamed of his own son.

This is a great cartoon and it sheds some light on what our president is really focusing on. He doesn't care about our jobs, gas prices or the fact that we are killing innocent people in a war over nothing. What does it matter if two men or two women marry each other? Who does it really bother. They are married they live in their own homes and how the hell do you even know if they are married or not!! They could have a ring on their finger and you wouldn't know the difference. This is the BS that our country is so worried about! Get over yourselves. People are getting married and divorced within days and that's not distasteful?? Face it our president sucks, he always has and he always will. There is no redeeming himself now.

Thankfully we have a president who cares about the values this country was built on & he has the guts to stick to what he believes in even when it's unpopular !! I proudly voted for W. All of our presidents have made mistakes and will continue to do so. I suggest we pray for our president who is trying his best to keep us safe....

Cher - Wake up and smell the coffee, W and the neo-cons have sold this country down the tubes so they could make more money for themselves. W will go down in history as being the worst president of the US, bar none. Look at our deficit, value of the dollar, our standing in the international community, all at all-time lows. The mess in Iraq brought on by the Pollyanna view that the war would pay for itself with Iraq oil revenues and that we could transplant democracy in a land and culture that historically does not understand or subscribe to the rule of law. And now a 1/2 trillion dollars later we are no closer to a solution with American lives being lost every day, for what? Just think of what could that money could have done if it had been spent in the US on our aging infastruture, universal healthcare, and alternative energy research. Truly a sad state of affairs that the next president will have to deal with. We will all have to make some very serious sacrifices of the next decade to put our financial house back in order, thanks to W and his cronies.

I am with Cher.... we need to stand behind our President, just because he is in a position of authority over us. He might not be perfect, but who is! Bill Clinton certainly was not! And every President put in office could not get there had it not been allowed by God. An immoral man corrupts a nation, while a moral man can save a nation. I believe W cares about us despite all the ugly accusations made against him. He is not playing the "poll game" - pandering only to those who line up on the popular side of things. Popular is sometimes wrong! He knows someone greater than us and our opinions and our nasty and hateful little comments, slanders, etc. He trusts in the one who knows more about the overall plan of this universe. Why don't you try looking to God? We might not understand what's happening today, but God does. We are called to love by God's word but that doesn't include loving what He defines as sin. We love the person, not the sin. And we recognize that we are all (all of mankind) is born in sin. (The book of Romans lays this out clearly regarding sexual sin). That is why Jesus said "You must be born again." To be born new, out of the nature of sin and into God's grace and love and forgiveness. Read the Bible - the book of John, and ask God with an open mind, to show you his truth.

If we want to protect the sanctity of marriage we should ban divorce. I am lesbian and have been with my partner for over 13 years. Our relationship has been the only steady one within our circle of friends - straight and gay. We come from upper-middle-class backgrounds, we have advanced degrees, we pay our taxes and we mow our grass just like our straight neighbors. Why can't we get past the basics? People should be able to make a home with whomever they choose. The Bible and religion do not have any bearing in this matter - there is a separation of church and state. I don't want marriage - I want equal rights.

oh man... while I am a Christian woman, married to a Christian man, we BOTH AGREE that "W" is the worst excuse for a president we've ever had! We agree with Tra and TS above. And, anyone can profess to be a "Christian", bow their heads and "say" they hear from God. Actions truly speak louder than words and W has proved, at least in our eyes that he is not to be trusted. Reading the comments from the old testament conservative religionists above I am struck by what a huge gap there is between what Jesus taught and what passes for Christianity today and it is the so-called Christians who are most opposed to anyone who calls for tolerance, peace, love for their enemies or neighbors and compassion for the poor and oppressed. George Bush (either one) or any of the conservative leaders who all talk of their great religious credits wouldn't know a Christian act if it actually happened to him/them. He is an intolerant, puritanical bigot and a kick-ass warmonger, just like the seeming rest of the right wing religionists. Praise Jesus - that is all they seem to think they need to say or do to be a Christian. But even the devils believe and tremble, but it doesn't make them Christians. The people who quietly go every day and LIVE a life of kindness, tolerance, peacemaking and charity are the real Christians who never get any credit or notice.. Sad. Millions are killed by cancer, heart disease etc. compared to 3000 killed in 2001 by human terrorists. Yet the conservatives don't care about those millions who die without adequate health care. Where's the Christianity here?). The US also ranks 52nd for freedom of the press. I could go on, but the point is the only thing the US is first in in the whole world is military - bombs, land mines etc. and people in prison (2nd). This is not what Jesus taught! The Bush Bunch and conservative policies have created more hatred and enemies toward the US than if the US would just mind its own business or spend all the money it does on bullying militarism on ending poverty and suffering in the world and end its support for despots. The US is wayyyyyyyyyyy down the list in per capita giving in REAL foreign aid, once you take all the land mines and bullets out of the "gifts" that give taxpayer support to the ruling elite's robber baron friends like Haliburton and the weapons manufacturers. You've got the internet start educating yourself about what your government and country is really doing to other people. You wouldn't like it if some other country came into the US and told you how the live and used military force and economic coersion would you? Of course not. If the US is a free country - and that is a debatable question (are you free to travel to any country you want to? NO. that is not freedom, for instance) then everyone in the country, including gay people and other people you don't like should have equal rights under the law. Right? Then they should be able to marry anyone they want to and enjoy the same rights as anyone else. Right! If not you have a country like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Somali or any number of these repressive states where prayer in schools is mandatory, religion is the state, homosexuals are beheaded, women who are raped are executed (its their fault after all) and men run everything. Sounds like an American right-wing, evangelical, neo-conservative dream. Right? Right! So move there. Its about time that the US started being what it has always proclaimed it was, but has never come too close to being, except for the rich and the powerful. Liberty and justice for ALL. Jay hit it all right on the head. Impeach Bush and Cheney. No one has ever deserved it more. At least Bush is against abortion, gay marrige, and he thinks we should keep our guns. I'm not saying that he has done everyting right. I definitely don't think he has done enough on illegal immigration, but the Democrats haven't either. Why is it that the Republicans never complain . . but the Democrats always find something to complain about? If a Democrat wins the election this time, and as a person who is honored to live in this country, I will not bash and bash this person for 4 years. If the majority elects them, then the rest of us should shut up for 4 years and let this person do their job to the best of their ability. Then, 4 years later, if you are not happy, then GO VOTE! And if socialized medicine gets approved, guess who will pay for it? All of us. Yes.... all of us who work will pay for everyone's healthcare.
