This year, Le Grand Concours, an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, attracted 100,699 students to the national contest. According to Ms. Stephanie Murphy, a French and Spanish teacher at Stimson Middle School in South Huntington, the competition calls for participants to take a written test and compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes that include certificates, medals, books, DVDs, trips, and scholarships.

Ms. Murphy is proud to report that two hard-working students from Stimson Middle School achieved National Placement, indicating that they are among the top 10 scorers in the nation for that level and division.

In Level 01A, Kimberly Shen placed third, and Julie Bishop placed sixth. Félicitations!
