If you missed the hearing Wednesday night on the plans for the northern stretch of Route 110, or even if you went but you like having the documents, here are copies of some of the maps and diagrams presented that night at the Huntington Library, and most of the DOT brochure explaining the project.
These are large files and may take a minute or two to load. Look for the + button in the tool bar to enlarge these documents on your screen.
Residents can still send written comments on the proposal by Nov. 24 to The NY route 110 Design Team, NYS Department of Transportation, 250 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge, New York, 11788.

I hope they are planning on having an ambulance posted at each traffic circle. People in these parts don't even respect stop signs. to think they know what to do when they enter a traffic circle is laughable. 'Right of way' is not something the morons on Long Island roads understand. My prediction: five accidents a week with this insane idea.
These people should drive the traffic circle at Jones Beach on a weekend afternoon in the summer to see what the morning and evening commute will be like on RT 110.
A traffic circle on Rt 110.is like landing a 747 at Republic Airport. All the Knuckleheads do not know how to negotiate these traffic rotarys. I do believe in time with some practice drivers will become more experianced at them, but not before a huge amount of accidents.
Why not a figure eight?
Wait, I know how to make it even better - build it out of ice.
The planners are ahead of you already. If you look to the northeast of the 110xCreek Rd rotary, you will see they have already marked a place for the "emergency medical helipad," which is convenient. I'm not making this up either; zoom in to 100% and you will see the notation in tiny black print.
I think they should do somemore studies, have they every gone to Riverhead or Jones Beach those circles are not safe.
Where are these posters from? Anyone who lives by Huntington village is probably already familiar with the traffic circle on Gerard Street - hardly any problems there and that gets plenty of traffic.
