SOS guest from LI says he's OK after road accident

Christopher Hahn, departing president of the United Way of Long Island, was driving on the slick Thruway to Gov. David Paterson's State of the State address yesterday when the car skidded, rolled over and ended up, upright, in a ditch just south of Albany in Rennselaer County. "I was fine, the car protected me," he said. "State troopers came immediately. They were phenomenal. Paramedics came from Schodack volunteer fire department."
With the car damaged, a state trooper brought him about 10 miles to the Capitol -- and Hahn, a Brookhaven Town resident and one-time aide to US Sen. Charles Schumer, attended the 63-minute address. He is due shortly to begin a new post hearing the government-practice group at the Mineola-based law firm Meltzer Lippe. Hahn's wife Kara is public information officer for the Suffolk Legislature.
