Paterson's points: Poetry, money and asides
In his annual address, Paterson departs at will from the text. He recited one poem, quoted Gov. Mario Cuomo on political purpose (Hey, Andrew could be senator) and cited the figure that the state deficit has been expanding by $16 million per day. He says he doesn't think parents know about the degree to which their children's habits affect their hearts and health. Ban transfats, list cholesterol content in chain restaurants, "Were doing this to protect our children." That's his cue to go into education.
