NYC Payroll: Fun with numbers
The Empire Center has posted the entire NYC payroll -- 427,759 full and part time workers at 85 agencies -- on the Internet, at SeeThroughNY.net, where it joins the payrolls of the NYS government and 18 authorities, including the MTA.
Highest paid on the list is Joel Klein at $250K. Lowest is Bloomberg, who gets $1 a year. The average is $59,255 as of June 30. The school system, which has done such an eye-poppingly good job making NYC kids the best educated in the entire world, is the agency with the most base salaries over $100,000 -- a total of 13,157.
