Republican Senate Leader Dean Skelos endorses Cuomo to fill Hillary Clinton's Senate spot at a meeting of the Commercial Industrial Brokers of LI, according to a report in the Long Island Business News.

Given Dean-o's warm rapport with Gov. Paterson, that should be a real boost to the AG.

Skelos also said he thought there was a lot of pressure on Paterson to name an upstater, like US Rep. Brian Higgins.

Update: One of our politically astute (and creative) readers has a theory: Skelos is for Cuomo because if Cuomo moves out of the AG's office he'll be replaced by a less electorally formidable Democrat. Then Skelos can run for AG in 2010 instead of leading a Senate minority. For what it's worth.....
