Levy attended night vigil with 'no politicians here...'
As described in this previous post, Suffolk Executive Steve Levy on Monday sidestepped a question about which services he attended relating to the death of Marcelo Lucero. Today reporter Reid Epstein follows up:
Levy spokesman Dan Aug said the Suffolk County executive attended a vigil Monday night at the Medford Avenue Elementary School in Patchogue, his first since the Nov. 8 killing of Lucero, an Ecuadorean immigrant. Levy's visit came hours after he walked out of a press conference instead of answering a question about whether he attended any vigils or memorial services over the weekend, which he had said he would do. Michael H. Mostow, the superintendent of the Patchogue-Medford school District, said the school did not make a formal announcement or issue a press release about the 7 p.m. vigil. He said Levy and Brookhaven Town Councilman Timothy Mazzei attended, along with a television crew from News 12. "I don't know how [Levy] found out about it," Mostow said. "It was not even supposed to be anything like that." According to the school's Web site, Principal Frances Lizewski told the gathered crowd: "There are no politicians here, no legislators. We are teachers, parents, students, neighbors, friends."

I thought the "no politicians here" remark was meant as an indication that those in attendance came as human beings first (friends, neighbors, etc.) and not for political purposes. Now, that can be debated (did they come as politicians?), but that's how I interpret the remark.
I think that Levy used a poor choice of words, but I also think the whole thing is a smokescreen. Nothing that Levy has done could be viewed by a reasonable person as inciting murder. Levy, like a vast majority of Americans, is against illegal immigration. He is for upholding the law.
Let's get real here. The reason Levy went to this particular vigil is because the family told him not to come to the funeral.
Levy is such a grasping phoney.......he is running for governor too late he has incited the PBA and they are organizing in the Conservative party to punish him.
