Suffolk cop commish loses union-retiree status

Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer has been drummed out as a retired member of his old police unions, which could cost him in life insurance, dental and vision premiums. He drew fire for his part in County Executive Steve Levy’s withdrawal of county police from some highway patrols. Executive boards of the Superior Officers Association and the PBA voted to oust Dormer. He did not appear to contest them. Union officials say Dormer had been eligible for dental and vision coverage as part of the benefit fund, and for a life insurance policy under the PBA. No cost impact was available. Dormer didn’t return calls. The non-profit Suffolk County Police Conference earlier began action to oust Dormer.

ADIOS.....We hardly new yee

It seems as if this Police Commissioner isn't very smart. Why else would he want the police department to stop patrolling the Expressway and Sunrise Highway, major roadways right in the middle of his police district, talk about a stupid move. Prehaps he would be smart enough to retire and get a replacment that has some knowledge about policing instead of bowing to the political pressure of the stupid county executive Executive who cares less about public safety and more about humself. Dormer should do the honorable thing, no not commit hara-kiri (although that would be apprapo), just quit now! Retire. Dormer knows he can no longer run the police department while dissecting it, following the orders of an out of control county executive.

Don't let the door hit you in the butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt on the way out Commissioner!

The commissioner and the county executive did the right thing by putting real cops on the highways.Sheriffs are the best way to go. They know what there doing and its much cheaper on the tax payers for better service. The commissioner should stay on the job. The PBA should hit the road. Just not are highways. They belong to the SHEIRFFS. Thank you for the highway. We love it this way.Next should by the boats.Save the tax payers alot of money and lay off the suffolk county police and hire them back as Sheriffs. It would be half the pay and give them unlimited sick time like new york city police and stop the big sick pay checks the police get. They get hundreds of thosands of dollars in sick pay when they leave the job. New york city police dont get sick checks.
