Obama: Discount on his mortgage

Obama got a discount on his jumbo mortgage in 2005, saving him $300 a month or so on his payments.

Special deals for public officials have proven troublesome for some senators, such as Chris Dodd. The argument here is that Obama got his special rate because he was an up-and-coming successful guy and went to a bank that likes to use attractive mortgage rates to create relationships with up-and-coming successful guys.

So, it's OK, his campaign argues.
