Obama's very good $50-plus million June looked even better this morning when Politico reported that he accumulated $25 million of that that total on the last day of the month, presumably with an appeal to small donors to buff up the totals.

Too good, it turns out, to be true.

Turns out that the FEC website had cumulated all of his small donations -- less than $200 doesn't require itemizing with the name of the donor -- for the entire month and listed them as received on June 30. The mistake was replicated on a lot of websites.

Now, it's been corrected. He got $4 million on June 30, but $21 million in small donations was received on other dates throughout the month.
