Obama: Concentration camp confusion
Yesterday, Obama made reference to having an uncle who served in World War Two, and was traumatized by his role in liberating Auschwitz.
Fox News, ever vigilant, responded with a piece recalling that the Russian Army liberated Auschwitz, and that Obama's mother was an only child.
The Republican National Committee, quoted int he story: “Barack Obama’s dubious claim is inconsistent with world history and demands an explanation. It was Soviet troops that liberated Auschwitz, so unless his uncle was serving in the Red Army, there’s no way Obama’s statement yesterday can be true. Obama’s frequent exaggerations and outright distortions raise questions about his judgment and his readiness to lead as commander in chief.”
This afternoon the RNC e-mailed the Fox story around to reporters.
Now, an Obama campaign response: It was Buchenwald, and it was a great uncle:
“Senator Obama’s family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II – especially the fact that his great uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald. Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically."
There's an old story about the boy who cried wolf. Maybe the RNC should read it before questioning Obama's "judgment and readiness to lead as commander in chief" every time he sneezes.
McCain will probably sneeze a couple of times, too, before November. You can criticize a misstatement, but you risk tiring everyone out if you go into ululations and lamentations about the capacity of the guy to lead on every little mistake.

Maybe Obama should just settle to being "BITTER" than trying to be a "BITTER MISSPEAKER"
Better yet, don't try to be something you are "NOT",

ps I guess he see that "Misspeaking" has worked for Hillary Soprano she is still in it to win it.
Come on John, you make excuses for this guy? He continues to "sneeze" as you put it more and more as time goes on and attention is put on him. This one caught my attention because I knew Auschwitz was liberated by the Russians and not the Americans, it being in Poland and everything. Mr. Obama seems to be racking these gaffes up. Sioux City, Kentucky closer to Arkansas than Illinois, fallen heroes in the audience, and 58 states in the union being a few. Also, there is the one where he does not know Farsi is the predominate language in Afghanistan. The best is the one where he will meet with Chavez but he will isolate him also. This guy is supposed to be smart and Harvard educated. Yet he makes these dumb mistakes when he knows he will be checked on every little fact he utters. I for one could not forget the details of a family story about a relative who was in WWII and helped liberate a concentration camp. It makes me wonder if this really happened at all. These statements make me wonder if he should be president, especially the one about Chavez.
Letter to Don: You should read Obama's book you would realize that these are just slips of the toungue that are bound to happen when every word that comes out of your mouth is televised and recorded for a year. He is not just intelligent he is an erudite scholar of American political philosophy and constitutional law, having taught law at the prestigious University of Chicago law school. He was also the editor of the Harvard Law Review, a poisition reserved for only the brightest legal minds in the country. Obama has a thorough and deep knowledge of world history and American history. Let's face it Hillary maybe smart but she is no Obama and McCain doesn't know the difference between a Sunni and Shia, so if you want to vote for the most intelligent candidate the answer is easy, it's Obama hands down.
To Sam, if you think this is just a slip, you are wrong. He lied about what happened. You do not slip and forget you do not have an uncle, as your mother was only child. Barack does not know about history because of what he said about George Washington and Washington experience. The first capital of the United States was not Washington DC and George did not live there. George Washington was not part of a political party either, and even came out against them in his farewell address. Barack also stood in front of a monument honoring Prussian, German, agression. You think McCain does not know the difference when he slips, but at least he knows the two groups and not making up a particular group of people, in Barack's case an individual, that does not exist. If you are smart, you will not vote for Barack!
