McCain veep meet: Distracting from health reports?

mccaincheek.jpg

There's a new theory about McCain's (leaked) plan to meet with three possible vice-presidents this weekend at his home in Arizona:

He also plans to release health records this weekend, which are a big issue because he's 72, his age is a concern to many voters, he had a cancerous melanoma removed in 2000, his swollen cheek is a constant reminder of the surgery, and another old senator -- Ted Kennedy -- was just, out of nowhere, diagnosed with a brain tumor.

So, he's releasing the health records on Memorial Day weekend, when most Americans won't be paying attention. And now, he also plans to meet with three (much, much younger) vice presidential prospects, to hopefully dominate coverage for those who are paying attention.

First Read calls it "shiny object time:"

"There are veep short lists, and then there are short lists serving as shiny objects. And this weekend meeting appears to fall into the 'shiny object' column."

And: "By leaking out word that the candidate will be hosting three potential veep running mates....at his ranch this weekend, the campaign has given the press corps a nice distraction story to focus on at a time when he'll have just released details of his medical records on Friday."

Now, as storylines pile one on another during a presidential campaign, these message-shaping theories can get to be a dime-a-dozen. The veep story, for example, also takes attention away from McCain attacking Obama over meeting with Iranian and Cuban leaders, which GOPers say they think is helping. Or, maybe it's designed to take attention away from the Lobbyists-run-McCain storyline, which is getting a lot of play and isn't helpful.

That said, in this case the theory about taking attention away from the health records with some young veeps sounds pretty plausible.

All of my close insiders of the National GOP, are praying that it is Barack Hussein Obama. That said,

Barack is nothing more then a "Motivational Speaker" who always reads off of the TelePrompTers.

Just TWO years ago this rookie was an Illinois "State Senator" doing what "State Senators" do best......IE........Baby Seat Laws, Give outs of Little League Trophies, New Stop Signs for the neighborhoods he represented and the Playground & park dedications. That is all he has done.

Obama has no experience in government, as he is the most liberal in the US Senate...It is naive to think he or anyone for that matter can turn around Washington, DC.

Count on the fact that come November, Red States become Bright Red, Purple States become Red....And don't be surprised if some of the former Blue States come over to the GOP side.

While McCain is no Ronald Reagan or represents true core conservative values, on this given year against Barack Hussein Obama it will not even be close.

This will be yet another disappointment for the far left and the liberal media. Barack Hussein Obama losing against McCain will help form a more moderate National Democratic Party. This loss will once again prove that the Dems are out of touch with main stream America.

As Karl Rove said at a meeting I attended, ..."The dominate creed of American politics is right of center and conservative"

Expect every "red neck" who never voted in their lives to be voting this year. Expect every Republican on a golf course who never voted in years to run off the golf course this year to vote.

Jim Kelly - NY Conservative Campaigns

Hold you breath.
McCain has just lost the vet vote.
His record of flip-flopping on every issue will not be tolerated.
When his REAL war record is shown to America, he will wish he had retired, as collaborators shouldn't be President..
most republicans, of which there are far fewer than in past years will stay home rather than vote for Mccain

Jim Kelly- you need to take a quick course in remedial math. Obama has been a U.S. Senator since January of 2005. So he’s been in his current position for over three years. In case you’re still having trouble with the math in this situation, I’ll spell it out for you. It’s been 3.5 years since he was an Illinois State Senator, not 2. And it is pretty obvious with your repeated mentioning of Senator Obama’s middle name that you’re attempting to speak to the bigots out there.

Jim Kelly: you were awesome when you played with the Bills! i loved the way you threw the ball to those guys on your team. especially the white guys, you know what i mean? too bad about losing the super bowl all those times. maybe you should have tried harder. but it wasnt your fault. you were so good so lets blame someone else. and so i get what your saying about that fella running for the white house. cant trust those kind of guys, no sir! when you running? because id vote for you for sure. thanks for the memories, Sandy

Jim Kelly is a bit over the top, but I believe there is some truth there.

Obama has been a senator since Jan 2005, and he set up an exploratory committee for President in January 2007. So from the time he was sworn in as a Senator until he began running for the highest office in the country was 2 years. TWO FRIGGING YEARS! And before that? Yes? What? Sorry I didn't hear that? Exactly...nothing.

AND DO NOT say that he was editor of the Harvard Law Review in the resume. That is great if he is clerking for a Supreme Court Justice, but not the U.S. President!

If that isn't novice I don't know what is. I have two graduate degrees in finance and I've been in my current job for almost three years. I can't even begin to explain everything I don't know.

Here's the bottom line: NOTHING takes the place of experience.

...Intellect can't, cotton candy "speech-ifying" can't, and telling me that you will bring change can't.

Barack Hussein Obama?????? What are we twelve? lol (Laugh Out Loud)!

The fact that you continue to mention Senator Obama's whole name shows how Republicans will try to get the ignorant to vote in the general election.

Republicans are going to be massacred this election cycle. Senator McCain and others are grossly incompetent, and too immature to debate the issues with Senator Obama.... so once again they will attempt to deviate from the real issues by quarrelling over minute things......kind of like Senator Obama's whole name.....too bad it’s proven that Americans aren’t gonna fall for that this time..... Just ask the voters in Mississippi!

So go ahead and keep doing what you're doing.....Bash his wife...his children.... make fun of his name......make him out to be a black extremist....... call him naive......continue voting against civil rights.....keep women in their place......run the same ‘ol campaign you have been.....lets show those liberals that we can accomplish sooooo much by keeping things the way they are now…..blame the “liberal” media for your inanity…..allow the conservative media to spread your lies…….... I mean... look all you’ve accomplished......thousands of DEAD young men and women from an UNJUST war.....less security......Osama Bin Laden STILL on the run.....an economy in a recession…thousands losing their homes…..the great American dollar losing its value....and new threats from the "axis of evil." That’s one heck of resume if you ask me……Surely you guys are prepared to take over the White House once again!

Its a good thing ya'll have managed to prevail in the WAR AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE too! I mean that was the BIGGEST threat to our nation in 2004....................wait..................hold up........something just happened in California????... oh. Ok. That means you guys lost that war too!........darn.

Mr. Kelly's predictions might encourage one to give them a micro-second thought if his true colors - varying shades of Blood-Vessel Red - were not leaching into the blog with each repeated mention of Barack HUSSEIN Obama. "Hussein! Hussein! Hussein!..." Shout it from the hilltops, fellas, while you're adjusting your lapel flag-pins.

That bit of swift-boating was tired in February. It's somnabulistic now. By November, after its long death-march to the polls, it'll finally expire as it should -- forever identified with the Republican Party's continued hoodwinking of the very people - "rednecks," using Mr. Kelly's own words -- it claims to protect and serve. And that is one thing that continues to amaze me about conservative, grass-roots campaigners like Mr. Kelly: the contempt they have for their own. Mobilize by any means necessary! Lie. Steal. Cheat. Betray. Terrify them out of their Lazy-Boyz and bowling alleys and get 'em to the polls.

It's and old story, one that applies to war, and one which now is a staple of Republican politics. Hermann Goerring eloquently gave voice to these same tactics in 1946 at the Nuremberg Trials:

"Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

Of course, Mr, Kelly is no Herman Goerring. Goerring was a brilliant, world-class monster. Mr. Kelly seems more of the tail-gate party variety.

Jim, Jim, Jim... you still don't get it... if the Republican Party would put up someone honest (like Ron Paul) the Dems would not win.. The party is a joke... Putting John McCain in charge of our country, is like putting Micky Mouse in charge of Disneyland... the guy acts like a little kid.

When Bill Clinton was running against George H. Bush, the GOP railed that Clinton never served in the military. You never heard republicans complain that Bush jr., Cheney, or Rumsfeld never saw military action.

When Kerry was running, the GOP made a huge deal out of the fact that Kerry was missing senate votes. Now that McCain is missing more senate votes than either Clinton or Obama, no one in the republican party is complaining.

You never heard the GOP question the experience level of Bush jr., and I think we can all agree that a high school senior would be hard pressed to screw up the country worse than dubya.

Family values maybe? Oh yeah, McCain cheated on his first wife.

Maybe the republicans are going to have to run on issues this time.

That will be big fun.

Staring at the ceiling of the Hanoi Hilton for 5.5 years doesn't make you a "War Hero" - it makes you a POW. McCain has 20 hours more of combat that Obama has!!!! you heard it = McCain has a whopping 20 hours of combat and his peers said he was probably shot down due to his own incompetence.

I wonder why John McCain is so set against talking to our enemies since he had no problems talking to them when he was captured. He talked so much that the military called him songbird.

McCain is milking a non-military military career. Give us a break!

What's that sound? Why it's the sound of Jim Kelly and other lost souls shaking in their Republican boots. Baby seat laws, Little league trophies?? Pathetic attempt at degrading the outstanding committment and talent of one of our forthcoming leaders.
Go ahead and have your laugh Mr. Kelly, because come November you and your boys won't know what hit them. This is an election unlike any we've ever seen before and you know it. That's why you're so scared you have to resort to the 'Hussein' crap.
Grow up and face reality. This is a new world, get used to it.

The thing about melanomas are they can crop up out of no where so a good report is different than a cure.

I'm not as nearly concerned about McCain's age as I am about his bearings. He seems to lose it at times. Maybe he'll do it during a debate.

HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN

What's in a name after all the man makes the name not the name the man - right ??

Take the lowly Toilet invented by Thomas Crapper....Not
Its a myth but the name lives on and so does the ASSOCIATION.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Crapper

And that's the fundamental problem that Obama needs to overcome "association" but is this Amercan generation ready for that ?

It should not really matter and but yet it does.

McCain was born in Panama.

PANAMA

PANAMA

PANAMA

PANAMA

He is not even born in the States.

That's a fact.

Wait, Obama's the most liberal? Really? When I read that, I knew you didn't know squat.
