Vote suppression, with Clinton ties? (Updated)

This is potentially an important story in the framework of Democratic primary struggles:

Facing South, a North Carolina blog, has been tracking robo-calls that have surfaced in North Carolina and a number of other primary states that seem to be spreading misinformation, leading voters to believe they aren't registered when they are. The calls have raised questions among election officials.

It now turns out that the calls are being financed by Women's Voices, Women Vote, a DC non-profit that in theory has been trying to encourage unmarried women to vote. The group got some publicity on Spin Cycle last year when it released an ad that featured women in the Oval Office -- which kind of seemed to have a pro-Hillary, as well as a pro-voting, message paid for by a presumably non-partisan non-profit.

The group has tons of Clinton ties -- current Hillary campaign manager Maggie Williams was on the group's leadership team a year ago. Former Clinton chief of staff John Podesta has been on the board, as well as ex-Clinton aides Joe Goode, Pat Griffin and others, and the group's president gave money to Hillary. The group refused to release all of its funding sources, but some of its money came from people who were also Hill-raisers.

Facing South is wondering why African American males were getting robo-calls from a man named "Lamont Williams" that were paid for by a group that is trying to get unmarried women to vote. Some blogs are describing it as a "voter suppression" effort....

Update: WVWV issues a statement. Says it's all a misunderstanding, and it will stop the calls that are causing confusion in NC.

Here's one of the ads the group produced last year:

I am shocked that the Republicans are not funding this group, just shocked.

BTW How come these groups have so much money. ???

WE GAS GOING THRU THE ROOF, THE COST OF FOOD KEEPS GO UP. PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES.

WHO HAS MONEY TO GIVE THESE GROUPS.

THE RICH OIL COMPANIES ????
MAYBE OPEIC ?????

I KNOW IT MUST BE BILLIONAIRES FOR BUSH

The ties to Clinton supporters are plentiful. Do some 'investigative journalism' and you will find that the Board members have long been affiliated with the Clintons. This group has also been admonished in other states that their calls were misleading and confusing. Engaging in these dirty tactics is shameful.
