At a press availability in Indiana, Obama begs off a question about Hillary advisor Mark Penn's work for Colombia, then dives in with an answer anyway. He says he would have fired Penn completely, rather than just demoting him.
But now, won't he face questions about why he didn't can economic advisor Austan Goolsbee, who met with a Canadian consul without clearance and allegedly -- though Goolsbee denied it -- said Obama didn't mean what he was saying about NAFTA? An interesting tactical choice. Maybe a bad one, or maybe he hopes it will lead to a discussion of Hillary's ties to special interests:
Video is from Fox, which has more on the story here.
Update: As predicted, Clinton campaign responds with Goolsbee:
"When Sen. Obama's top economic advisor told the Canadian government not to take his anti-NAFTA rhetoric seriously, he first denied that the meeting ever occurred, and when that proved false he took absolutely no action. It's good to know he has a higher standard for our campaign than his own."
