Clinton goes up with an endorsement from Maya Angelou, featuring Maya sitting on a stage telling Hillary how absolutely great she is while Hillary nods knowingly. Lines like:
"Hillary Clinton, the prayer of every American who longs for fair play." And: "She dares to say human beings are more alike than they are unalike."
That takes daring? We say it every day in the newsroom here, and never realized how heroic we were being.
Lord knows, this stuff must work. They poll these things, and Maya is a famous lady. But, is there any place left for even a tad of humility in politics? Does the candidate have to be presented as an icon, in all ways wondrous?
