Here's another good one from the new state budget, ferreted out by Erik German and Melissa Mansfield in the Albany bureau:
$1500 for the Long Island Synchronized Swim Team.
It's no doubt a worthy endeavor. But a lot of New Yorkers pay for their own kids activities. Someone has a connection with someone who has a connection with a pol, and it gets thrown in the state budget for everyone else to pay.
How can they pretend they've cut everything they can cut, and then throw in $1500 for synchronized swimming?
