Suffolk GOP to name Stalzer for Congress
Suffolk Republican officials are expected to meet Friday to name Huntington businessman Frank Stalzer as their candidate to challenge Rep Steve Israel (D-Huntington), at left, this fall.
Stalzer, 50, president of Astrex Electronics in Plainview, describes himself a s a pro-growth conservative who wants to cut taxes to spur business, close borders and bar amnesty for illegal immigrants.
“He’s articulate and I like the way he presents himself. I think he could be an agressive candidate,” said Harry Withers, Suffolk GOP chairman.
While party leaders will annoint him in their meeting at party headquarters in Bohemia, he will not officially be designated as the candidate until May 22, the date of the party convention.
Israel, who has more than $1-million in the bank, is seeking his fourth term. “The congressman look forward a debate on the issues, defending his record and fighting for middle-class families on Long Island,” said Meghan Dubyak, Israel's spokeswoman.

I hope he says I AM A FRANK STALZER REPUBLICAN FOR CONGRESS. WE NEED CANDIDATES WHO DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM SAYING I AM A REPUBLICAN AND PROUD FO IT. I am sick an tried of seeing our party nominate candidates that do not say the are REPUBLICANS.

Even I stand a better change of getting elected than a republican does. Not that Israel is any good, but repubs aren't too popular these days.

It is time for REPUBLICANS TO STAND UP AND SHOUT I AM A REPUBLICAN AND PROUD OF IT. Republican candidates need to tell the VOTERS THAT THEY ARE A REPUBLICAN, AND WHAT THEY STAND FOR.LOUD AND CLEAR.
What Republicans should stand for is less goverment lower taxes and national security.The economy is a major issue and concern for alot of people and I think voting to make the presidents tax cuts perminent is a first step in helping the average taxpayer.
