June O’Neill, the state Democratic chairwoman, was not impressed with talk of a race by Rep. Peter King for governor in two years.
“Peter King running for Governor is a little like global warming. It’s getting too hot for Republicans in Congress and on Long Island, so he’s looking north to Albany in search of a more hospitable climate,” she said. “Unfortunately, he will probably find his odds in taking the Governor’s mansion are about as good as the odds of Republicans staging a comeback in the House – which is to say non-existent.”

It must scare June to realize there's a Republican out there who is liked by Dem's also. Run Pete Run! You can pull Dem's away from these crazies!
I wonder if Peter King is on the McCain short list for VP ?
If not maybe he should be.
MEMO TO McCAIN & STAFF

I think it's premature for the NYS Democratic Chairman to start celebrating. It's a long way from now to November and she might find the Republicans are a little stronger than portrayed in the local media. She should remember that Peter King is a descent, honorable man and a man with a great future........unlike the disgraced ex-Governor from Ms. O'Neill's party. Peter would make an excellent Governor and my sense is that it's not too early for people like O'Neill to start worrying.
