A new Siena poll out today says that McCain continues to close with Obama and Clinton in New York. Clinton leads 46-42 and Obama 45-40 over the GOP nominee, down from 7-point leads in February.
Can anyone continue to seriously argue that Clinton's continuing pursuit of the nomination is not hurting the Democrats? A four point or five point lead in New York?
The poll also shows Clinton at her all time low in her "home" state. Her favorable rating is 48-46, compared to 54-34 for Obama and 54-35 for McCain. On the Albany front, Gov. Paterson is at 48-18, which is good as far as it goes. But, says poll spokesman Steve Greenberg:
“New Yorkers are still learning about their new Governor, and while they generally like him, one-third of voters don’t know enough...to have an opinion about him or the job that he is doing so far.”
