We're not really of a mind that the Clinton campaign is on its last legs. It still seems very competitive, one big win away from another momentum shift. But an e-mail today from campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe does suggest some concern.
He doesn't even ask for money -- it's just to convince everyone that all is not lost and they should still be psyched. Generally, when you have to send out an e-mail to tell your supporters that they're still excited -- and offer a video as proof! -- it's not a good sign. Although, if you click on the video you do get a contribution pitch, so maybe it's just the latest way of soliciting bucks.
Here's the whole e-mail:
"When I turn on the TV all I hear is negative words. The news stations keep telling you that we're down and out. But that's plainly not true. I'm on the trail every day for Hillary and the crowds are bigger than ever before, and let me tell you - they are excited!
"I wanted to show you a video from a recent event with Hillary in North Carolina - you can see for yourself Hillary's packed events and enthusiastic supporters."

Bill & Hillary Soprano are on there way to becoming members of BILLIONAIRES FOR BUSH.
So please stop sending out those e-mails.
Bill is working his tail off to make sure we have a BILLION DOLLARS.
If I am elected president, he won't be able to talk for money.
It would look bad for the First Husband to charge for talking.
As First Husband he will be doing a lot of entertaining of first wife's.
So it is better that I lose and we become BILLIONAIRES FOR BUSH.

You must not be familiar with the communication that Hillary's campaign keeps with her base. There is nothing unusual about this email - we get them all the time. It's been apparent since January that the press has a vendetta against Hillary - everyone knows that! Her campaign began sending these emails about the support on the ground weeks ago to let all of us know that contrary to what the press reports, she has an impressive following. And then she won Texas and Ohio. It's just an example of her campaign being thoughtful to her supporters, working OT to break through the media spin machine. But thanks for bringing it up. I love seeing these messages from Hillary on the campaign trail - they always make me smile.
