Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) sent out this low-grade video two days ago to thank donors to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and to ask for more money: "Please don't think we're home free. We need ya."
As head of the Democrats' money machine that won control of the Senate in 2006 by a slender 51-49 margin, Schumer is now driving to take advantage of what he describes as a "once in a generation opportunity" to significantly expand on that majority, as Washington Post blogger Chris Cillizza notes in his post of the video clip.
"Both Barack and Hillary have told me if we only have 52 or 53 or even 54 in the Senate they're going to have to trim their agenda, let alone get something done to change America," Schumer says in the video clip, taken at the DSCC headquarters in Washington.
He said the campaign had a good quarter - he might as well have said a good 14 months. As of the end of February, the Democrats' senate campaign fund had raised $64 million and still had $32.8 million in the bank. In contrast, the Republican senate fund had raised $39 million and had $15.2 million in cash, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
And judging by the quality of the video clip, Schumer apparently wanted the donors to know he is not wasting money on inessential expenses, like a professional cameraman.

I wonder how much Schumers "Brain" Hank Morris is going to give to help the cause. If press reports are correct he could part with a million or two. It seems that the Democrats are the party of the RICH.
You all keep sniping and finding fault---i.e. who cares about the quality of the video? We'll just keep giving our little bits here and there. We're taking back our country from fat cats, lobbyists and special interests, one dollar, one day, one vote at a time. The Clinton people have given 55 million dollars in the past two months and the Obama people have given 95 million dollars. We are all serious about this. Enough is Enough. Not This Time. Not This Year. And if you're a democrat, come join us. This is the one shining moment in a very long time when we have a chance to make life better for regular people.
