Troopergate report: Spitzer behind it

A couple of reports out this morning indicate that Albany DA David Soares' upcoming report on Troopergate will place a lot of the blame squarely at the feet of former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, despite his denials.

Spitzer aide Darren Dopp (left), according to the NYT, has spilled the beans on his ex-boss, saying that Spitzer pushed the compilation of records on Joe Bruno along, had a chance to see everything, and pushed Dopp to get a newspaper to bite -- which the Albany Times-Union eventually did:

In one meeting: "The governor was so angry, Mr. Dopp recalled, that he turned red and spit out coffee he was sipping as he directed him to release the records immediately. 'As he was saying it, he was spitting a little bit,' Mr. Dopp said. 'He was spitting mad.' ”

The Daily News has a related story about a dispute over how many executive e-mails Gov. Paterson will allow Soares to disclose in his report, with AG Cuomo supposedly refereeing the dispute.

These, of course, would be e-mails Cuomo failed to get in a report based on the Dopp testimony that Cuomo failed to get prior to issuing his report last year that criticized Spitzer but said no laws were broken. As time passes, the decision to issue that report without demanding testimony from Spitzer and top aides looks more and more like a mistake....

I'm Shocked!, Shocked that politicians are playing politics. Cause, you know opposition parties NEVER try to get the goods on each other. Roger Stone.
