Picture: Bill Clinton with Rev Wright in White House

So now, a picture surfaces of Rev. Jeremiah Wright with Bill Clinton at the White House, which is said to have been taken at a 1998 event also attended by Hillary in which Clinton said he had "repented" from his Lewinsky dalliances. That's not confirmed.
It's not clear that it means anything -- inviting Wright to the White House is different than having him as your pastor -- but it does indicate that Wright was not some looney splinter figure. It apparently originated with a website set up to defend Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama's church.

It is true that not just anyone would be invited to the White House.
Hmmm... So this is why the Clintons have been uncharacteristically silent these past few days...(and here I thought Hillary had discovered a lilttle integrity!) 'Guess they figured it was the "Wright" thing to do on account of Bill's repenting for trysts with Monica and such... with the good Reverend, no less...
I think what is also important here is Obama's campaign sent this picture ot the media to distract people.
To distract? More like to point out the HIPOCRISY.

I thought that Bill was ALREADY labeled a RACIST during the South Carolina primary. Is this photo from the Obama people intended to confirm that???
Looks like Obama is finally throwing Granny AND Uncle Jeremiah under the bus!? How many more family members can he afford to trash???
Rev Wright tells the truth - this country WAS built by racist (slave-owning) white people...thats our history. I, as a white man, admit this and am willing to talk about it. Why do other white people get upset when black people tell them the truth about themselves...
Go Obama!
Hi Chicago White Male,
From a person of color let me break it down for you! Not all people of color go to the same kind of Church as Obama. I am so glad you have come to terms with the fact that our history was founded by slave owners. Congratulations on your own self-actualization. I am offended by Rev Wright because he said God Damn America and that we deserved 9/11. That won't bring my dead Uncle back to life that died in the towers. HE DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE. What do you have to say about that!
Reading the comments is a great example of how devided, demoralized and downright pathetic our nation has become. If there is a god, please help us.
Zara,
Of course, your uncle and the thousands of other innocents with him did not deserve to die on 9/11. The memory of that awful day will be in our hearts always…
I don't believe Chicago White Male was condoning the Rev. Wright's insensitive vitriol about 9/11; rather, he was respecting the causes that spawned the anger, like: slavery, lynching, segregation, Jim Crow, denial of the vote, discrimination in housing, employment, etc. Surveying African American history, who wouldn't be angry?
The problem with Wright is that he hasn't yet recognized "done."
Obama characterized him and other post-civil rights era dragon types as being stuck in the past of their 50s' and 60s' embattled youth, believing that nothing has changed, that history is static. They've completely missed that history is organic. It grows and shifts. It's happening now; it is evolving into -- maybe -- an African American president!
Wright is wrong, but to understand him is to see that because his viewpoint is attached to a world that no longer exists, the only way he can effect some sort of plausible connection to it is to scream and rant. He's actually screaming at his own powerlessness. Thus, his bitter words should not be given power via attention and repetition.
I think a lot of people are in a state of confusion over Rev. Wright's comments, claiming that he hates America. From the clips I've seen it's pretty clear that when Rev. Wright condemns America he is clearly talking about the American government and not Americans as a whole. It is necessary to pull oneself back and examine the comments he said from a different perspective. I find this illustrated very well when I travel outside the US. People from all walks of life, from South America to Europe, are able to parse the difference between the actions of our government and the people. The US government is almost universally despised, and in most cases rightly so, while the American people are beloved.
Rev. Wright's comments also reminded me a lot of what I heard from Malcolm X. Obviously Malcolm X didn't talk about 9/11 (his were framed by the JFK assassination) but he emphasized that if the US government is engaged in invading countries, toppling governments, etc. then it is not surprising when some of that violence shows up on our doorstep, what the CIA calls "blowback".
Now I'm not going to sit here and defend everything Rev. Wright has said (AIDS being an invention for the purposes of genocide) but you may also want to examine the religious ties of others. John McCain has accepted endorsements from those who espouse vitriol from the pulpit, John Hagee and Rod Parsely. If you don't know who these two are you better do some research and then get back to me as to whom you think is associating themselves with unsavory characters.
The fairy tale is over.
Obama's pixie dust is wearing off.
A few in the corporate media are finally starting to reveal some details about this man's judgment.
I speak of Obama's long association with his spiritual advisor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Obama says he didn't know Wright was far, far left. While that is hard to believe, it says that Obama is not a very discerning judge of character. And it shows poor judgment for a presidential candidate to allow such an extremist to serve on his campaign.
Rev. Wright says AIDS was created by the US government to kill black people.
Come on!
"I didn't know about that man, Rev. Wright." Is that what Obama is telling us?
But there is more to come.
Obama's friend, William Ayers, is an unrepentent terrorist.
An Obama fund raiser, Rashid Khalidi, supports terrorists.
Wait till these tidbits come out. Maybe they won't release them till after Obama wins the nomination.
These associations with radicals show that Obama does not yet have the judgment nor the experience to be at the top of the ticket.

I agree completely with Zara and Obama that the likes of Rev Wright are still clinging onto a view point of the world that no longer exists. In fact I would venture to say that there are other characters or heroes from the struggle for emancipation that have failed to develop this new view point. A case in point is Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF in Zimbabwe that still iew the USA and UK as their oppressors and therefore enemies. For many "bitter" black people living in disadvantaged communities this type of rhetoric becomes very appealing as it is viewed as a small strike back at the oppressive regime that they are powerless to change. I believe that the politics of change that Obama wants to bring about means that the US should confront these problems head on by openly discussing and addressing the concerns of marginalized individuals and communities. Starting with the USA and then bringing to an end this global political silly season where bread and butter issues take second place to political posturing. People are dying, losing their homes, living in debt and despair uncertain about the future whilst Hillary and the Democrats want to debate the merits of wearing a pin on one's lapel.
