Was it a glimpse into Eliot Spitzer's subconscious?
The governor had planned to attend tomorrow's economic summit with Hillary Clinton in Zanesville, OH, but now says he'll send Lt. Gov. David Paterson in his stead -- so he can deal with the state's budget and speak at an ABNY confab.
“I’ll be there maybe later in the week or next week -- if this continues,” he told reporters on a conference call this afternoon.
If?
This will not endear him with some Hillary supporters, who still blame him for getting her caught up in the immigrant driver's license controversy (She backed him up, sort of, at the Drexel debate. He dropped it. Then she did a 180).
On the call, Spitzer was asked a) if his now-defunct idea hastened her current slide b) if he ever apologized for forcing her to defend a policy she never really liked.
"The answer is, 'No.' I have had no conversations with her about it," said Spitzer, speaking on a call with Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine. "I just point out, Barack Obama is for my policy on driver's licenses, so I don't see that that's been an issue."

I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.
