Gov. Eliot Spitzer, speaking to a convention in Albany tonight, urged Democrats to "give people an agenda to vote for." He said whomever wins the party’s presidential nomination must be armed with policies that inspire and energize voters or they will fall short of the White House in November.
Spitzer also touted his own agenda for New York State, particularly hefty investments in public schools and universities and in healthcare. "We need to create that alternative agenda" to the Republicans, he said. "We are beginning to see it in Albany," he told the New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators' annual conference.
Spitzer’s remarks to more than 1,000 people gathered inside the convention center were greeted politely but with little enthusiasm. The man introducing the governor to the crowd even had to beg for applause. "Come on now, you can do better than that," the man said. "Come on now."
Later, Spitzer brushed off a reporter’s question about the audience's lukewarm reaction to him.

Don't tell me that Spitzer believes that THE MEAN OLD GOP, LEAD BY McCAIN can WIN IN NOVEMBER ?? Maybe they can CARRY NEW YORK TOO, like in 1980 and 1984. How if only Joe Mondello and the rest of the dead Republican leadership would JUST RESIGN maybe we can, yes that is it 'YES WE CAN WIN NY YORK McCAIN' YES WE CAN WIN NY FOR McCAIN", YES WE CAN WIN NY FOR McCAIN' So Joe and the dead Republican leadership resign so 'WE CAN WIN NY FOR McCAIN.
