Censured former Suffolk Family Court Judge Ettore Simeone has resigned from his new $120,990 post as a court attorney referee, after less than two months on the job, and days after state court officials completed a review of his hiring.
David Bookstaver, spokesman for the Office of Court Administration disclosed the Feb. 20 resignation late Friday. Simeone, a Conservative who’d been preparing to seek a second 10-year term, pulled out of his re-election race after he came under fire for his censure and other issues.
OCA’s administrative director Larry Marks (left) initiated the review last month after a Newsday inquiry about whether Simeone’s censure was considered prior to the hiring. Marks said he was unaware of the Commission on Judsicial Conduct’s 2004 action....

....in which Simeone was rebuked for failing to disclose a relationship with a woman, now his wife, who headed a youth shelter and repeatedly appeared in his court over 17 months. He “violated his duty to avoid impropriety,” the commission ruled.
Bookstaver said it was “not appropriate” to disclose the findings of the review in light of Simeone’s resignation. “It becomes moot,” he said. He added Simeone “resigned on his own” and stated in a letter that the “job was not what he expected it to be.”

Rick Brand has performed a public service by calling to the attention of the Office of Court Administration the soiled record of this man. The public does not want him involved in the judiciary in any capacity. Let him live on the salary of his former " girlfriend " for whom he threw away his reputation and family.
