Michelle: What does this mean? (Updated)

Here's a quote from Michelle Obama, via the Globe and Politico, that seems to have trouble written all over it:
“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.”
A lot of Republicans, and Democrats, and Independents will be surprised to learn that pre-Obama, there was no reason to be proud of America. Probably she didn't mean that. But what did she mean?
Update: Here's a longer, and slightly different, version of the quote:
“What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something — for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud.”

What does this mean?
Go back to school if you do not understand what she means!!!!!
You have nothing to report.
What are you trying to insinuate? You pretend to love America more than she does? Give me a break!!!
its extremely clear that the obama campaign is trying to produce a sense in Americans mind that 'YES!!!....we have obama now to make us feel proud'...its bolognie....no one is talkin about whether or not michele has never felt proud of her country but the fact that she said it is cleary a ploy used to directly associate obama with revitalized pride in ones country....not because of what he plans to do as president but because hes BARACK....its clearly evident that she[michelle] has been sittin in on sum of the campaign meetings and is, like many others, sippin too much of the obama 'kool-aide.' Its getting crazy....the obama campaign is all about how great obama is...purposefully leaving out details for how he will govern the country....hopeless....at 18 ive lost hope in the media.....theyve clearly been gulpin liters between commercial break
give me a break ... what a non-issue, you media types are the ones who are hungry, to try and create a scandal where there is none.
matthew, thank you for your post.
You are a living breathing example that Hillary is doing very will with the illiterate and uneducated.
Hopefully the intelligent will be the ones to decide the election and not the mouth breathers who are not fond of getting a well spoken black man in power.
thank you for posting... the arraogance of the obama's is over the top and this is just another example.
wow! as a future first lady, she'll do wonders for our image abroad!
Matthew is right. It all about the new messiah. And the focus on his plagarism obfuscates the real issue about Obama's words. Does he really think that "I'm fired up and ready to go", or anything else he ever said, is even remotely in the same league as Jefferson's immortal words? Obama is an arrogant blowhard. And apparently so is his wife.
I can't believe that there wasn't more important news today. I listened to Morning Joe beat this story to death for three hours. Give me a break ... it's quite obvious that Michelle Obama is, has been and always will be very proud of her country . . . in this instance, she is really (EXTRA) proud. Maybe it would have helped if she'd have said this is the first time in my adult life that I've been REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY proud . . . would that have made it easier to understand?
Are you kidding me with this story? She's right, I agree with her, she took the words right out of my mouth. And everyone I know at the moment shares this sentiment. Now here's the question, what's wrong with YOU?
I know what she means. Living in Canada, Canadians constantly ask me how we could have elected Bush TWICE. They are very familiar with America, watching American movies, TV and visiting the US regularly. They don't understand how a nation as ours could have such a ridiculous government.
It's embarrassing to be American with Bush as president. Every stupid statement, immoral act and absurd policy is a reflection on us. If we don't choose someone wise to replace him, it will solidify this image of American imbecility to the world.
I don't know why americain people always facinating about personnality and star. You are choosing your President, your leader of the country, not a Star!!!! You are making Obama like Star right now! What's wrong with you guys?? Wake up!
I think some of you are missing a very important point. She said "FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ADULT LIFE I AM REALLY PROUD OF MY COUNTRY". It is obvious she is not talking about the government. She is talking about the People, the American People. How can that be? Does she not remember how the American People respond to those in need? What about after 9/11, Katrina, Rita, Andrew, et cetera? I know we screwed up as a people and Bush was elected twice. That was a bad moment, but it does not decrease the tremendous way that the American People respond to those in need here and abroad. What she said was somewhat disrespectful. There may be many ways to spin it, but she clearly needs to watch what she says.
This headline appeared on Drudge yesterday about 3pm, it obviously took Matt Drudge about 2 minutes to notice that Politico and Globe "edited" the word "really", or "very" from her remark and immediately removed it. Cheers to Drudge and wake up at Huff Post, I love you guys but this is a major screwup.
If you simply underline the word “really” proud in her remark it makes all the sense in the world. Who could be "really" proud of the way we’ve behaved in the world for a long, long time now anyway? Let’s move on there’s so much to do and so little time.
>for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.
Since Mrs. Obama became an adult in 1981, she means she wasn't 'really proud' of:
Virginia electing its 1st black governor.
Illinois electing its 1st black senator.
Illinois electing its 2nd black senator.
The 1st woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The 1st black astronaut.
America's support for democracy in South Africa & former Soviet Union.
Hubble Space Telescope.
boring ... lame ...
What an incredible, down-to-earth woman.
Her authenticity and candor are heady something narrow minded people would be very uncomfortable with. So refreshing. So honest.
She is obviously a divisive racist ungrateful for all the opportunity she has had here in AMerica. If these self centered morons win, this country will be lost. NO TO HUSSEIN OBAMA
If this is all you got Obama on Obama by attacking his wife Obama is going to win this hands down.. To the moron who said she is racist.. It's funny because her husband mom and grandparents are white.. Some are afraid of the facts..Must be Clinton supporter..
Oh good grief ... she said 'really' proud for the first time. She was probably proud before and now she's REALLY proud. ok?
Cindy McCain...wow. One, I want to say before you ever speak again, hold a town hall and let's first see how many people's lives you touch and what type and size of crowd you draw. For your first time out of the gate, I am shocked that you would have the nerve to go after a woman who is highly educated and involved. Michelle has done community service and does genuinely care about her country and the people in the country. After you start doing community service and really reaching out to people that are outside of your cosmetic surgeon's office, then perhaps your voice and words will hold some meaning. Until then....get a makeover. You are representing the Republican Nominee, yet you choose to stand beside him with dark eyeliner, looking like someone fresh off the pole. Have some respect.
Patiotism, jingoism, xenophobia: all quaint concepts dscended from one human emotion. Pride. Millions of corpses of young brave men have been piled on its altar; with almost four thousand new ones thanks to POTUS' interpretation of what it means to be a "proud American." I for two am not proud of what havoc this government has wrought; nor of the people who sit idly by and fail to hold the leaders accountable. Michelle Obama speaks an unspoken truth kept in the hearts of thinking people everywhere. A little hyperbole spun toward her husband is not unexpected in a political campaign.
Hey, guess what? "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud." Her words, my thoughts.
Ah, the difference between someone REAL and a seasoned politican (excluding former President Clinton's temper tantrums of late on the stump....)
Michelle & Barack Obama have the VERY bad habit of NOT speaking in "sound bites" but in paragraphs which I pray & trust that they will NOT lose as the media attempts to create a story where one does NOT exist.....
post feb 19 by matthew.....WOW! You hit that one out of the park! if you are that insightful at 18 I wanna keep tabs on you and any future political aspirations that you may consider....if I were Obama, a staffer or supporter it would give me reason to pause and reflect.
Michelle "Omarosa" Obama's comments re: this being the
first time in her adult life that she's proud of this country --are very disappointing --- coming from the wife of a presidential candidate. It raises the question of whether this Is about race., due to the fact that we've always had white males for presidents.
Obama's not the first candidate who's said they want change.
I think most Americans agree that change is well-overdue in Washington.
Just because you "want" change doesn't mean you're going to
be successful getting it, or, that you're making the right change.
Having a president with different skin color doesn't guarantee you're going to get change, either.
Thank goodness for the intelligent posts - this is nothing more than the MSM looking for anything stupid to report rather than report real news. I certainly can relate to everything she said and I am a female white aged 63. I am not offended by anything she said and I think she makes a very good argument for her comments.
And as far as Matt and the Diva and the rest of those with negative comments, go get a life.
It could have easily been expressing two thoughts at the same time & they overlapped..
“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.”
Another over analyzed non issue... she easily could have meant:
I am proud of my country, For the first time in my adult life it feels like hope is making a comeback.
They both constantly talk about is how they could never have done in any other country what they did in the US and what the US has done for them, etc... get a grip folks, no wonder nothing ever gets accomplished when this is all we can concentrate on.
Good for Michelle. I haven't been proud of my country for some years now. A rubber-stamp Supreme Court? Who would have thought THAT could ever happen? How about torture? You folks okay with that? Is it okay as long as it's done to some scuzzy Arab types? I've got news, that could all change real quick. this country is just plain sick, and I'm hoping for change.
I thought I would clarify for those who did not realize. Michelle Obama said this twice in the same day. In Milwaukee she said, "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback" Note there is no really in that statement. And then later in Madison she altered it to the current statement. So it is a little difficult to hinge on the Really portion of her comment. Afterall, she said it twice and the original quote that was circulating in the media was the first one.
For the first time in my life, I was proud and about to vote for a black but I changed my mind. More Freudian Slips to come from racist M. Obama.
Waterboard the bitch and find out what she "really" thinks of this country.
This is a pretty dumb comment for some dept head at a university?? I can't believe she was so dumb as to let her husband plagerize himself with the Martin Luther king and Deval Patrick speeches....trying to evoke a revival meeting form of frenzy amongst his african american base....thats sort of pandering to them I would say...and he's only a bi-racial candidate at that....but it's workedso far! Mrs Obama is getting a free pass while Bill Clinton is being raked through the coals. I wish the (GOP) corporate owned news media wouldn't push Obama so much down our throats, as its starting to look quite biased, like during the 2000 race with GW BUSh pushed down our throats. If the GOP want Obama to be the nominee so much....then we should all be looking at this a lot closer...as maybe they feel they can beat him or have something on him, but the GOP are afraid of Hillary Clinton.hmnnn We should all think long and hard about Obama's inexperience......perhaps he would make a better VP
I too am REALLY Proud to be an American, when our country has finally moved to the point where either a Black or a Woman has a chance to become president.
I'm not Proud of an America, whose president has such a callous disregard for the Constitution.
I'm not Proud of an America, whose president can ignore the rebuilding of New Orleans.
I'm not Proud of an America, whose president has wrought havoc in the Middle East, with a senseless war in Iraq.
I'm not Proud of an America, whose president cares so little about wounded veterans, that he did nothing to improve conditions at Walter Reed.
I'm not Proud of an America, whose president has ignored the impending dangers of Global Warming.
This Vietnam Veteran is Proud to support Barack Obama, but will support any Democrat that will clean up the cesspool, of an administration, that George Bush has created.
I want to create an America that we all can be Proud of.
Both of the sites you link have the longer version, with the all-important modifier "really" included. Did they correct themselves, or did you edit it out of your initial version?
The difference between "For the first time in my life, I am proud of my country" and "For the first time in my life, I am REALLY proud of my country" is substantial.
Stop trying to justify her words. FOR THE FIRST TIME....Obviously Mrs. Obama has not thought much of her country in the past.
Any truth to the article in the Cleveland Leader? I see a lawsuit has been filed in Minnesota. It doesn't suprise me. Recovering addicts tend to relapse frequently.
UTTER BS.
Notice the word "REALLY" before proud. She was proud before, now she's REALLY proud. Really proud as in VERY proud.
The spin that she hasn't been proud of our country before is CRAP.
What is wrong with that?
If anyone thinks that Michelle Obama's stupid, egotistical remark is indicative of the general arrogance that is stinking up the Obama campaign...
If anyone thinks that it's excusable that Obama plagerized...'er I mean "borrowed" Deval Patrick...
Think about what the reaction would have been if Hillary and/or Bill did these things. Trust me, the sharp knives would have been all over this and in their backs in about a second.
And one more thing...for all those whiners who are crying about how the Clintons have courted the superdelegates for over a year: isn't this the kind of foresightedness and savvy you would WANT in a president? When it comes to negotiating trade agreements, international alliances and the like, wouldn't you want someone who is able to foresee, shape and influence the future?
ill be proud when obama (my first choice) or hilary win.. think about the president that we have now , are we f'ing stupid or what? did we have 0 standards back then???
is there something wrong with saying that im embarrassed and ashamed of the actions that the usa (the country that i live in) has done? what do you have to say about that cindy
Hi,
I have not blogged much, but the news in the past couple of days urged me to do so. I used to be a supporter of Sen. Obama, however after seeing that he really just seems to TALK, it really started getting old, and some of my friends who also were former Obama supporter asked me a simple question: " do you want to have buyer's remorse?"
So I researched further what ACTIONS each candidate
had actaully done, and we were convinced that Sen. CLinton at least goes into specifics... and as one of friends said...I AM VOTING FOR AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT NOT AN AMERICAN IDOL !!!
And as someone in the military...I am extremely offended at what Michelle Obama said yesterday, I do not believe they are ready for prime time on the world stage, so I am glad I voted for Sen. Clinton, and I WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA should be be the nominee.
Mrs. Obama made a joke at the expense of John Edwards, implicitly mocking his "haircut." She really should not be poking fun at Sen. Edwards, who adds great substance and class to the national debate.

When you grow up in a country that turned dogs and fire hoses on its own citizens, ya know sometimes its hard to be proud of that.
There is no reason on earth to discount or discredit Michele Obama's remarks. My family came over here from Europe and we were the proudest and most patriotic citizens. I am now so ashamed of my country and discouraged and embarassed about the greed, incompetence and illegitamacy of this administration that I feel like the only bright lights on the horizon are the prospect of two great candidates running for office to replace the moron in the White House. I give credit to Barack Obama for lighting that fire. Whichever one wins, he or she will give our country a chance to get back the fire of optomism and respect we so desperately need. MIchele's remarks were right on, as far as I'm concerned.
Speaking as a Republican living abroad in Europe ... I believe I can understand what she speaks of. 7 years ago I never thought I would ever say this, but if you have lived abroad or traveled then you can understand.
I am simply tired of feeling ashamed and embarassed by the greed and incompetence of this administration and my country. It needs to end, and I feel so strongly about this that I voted for Mr Obama ...
I am not alone in my feelings because I know of 11 other Republican American colleagues living here that feel just as strongly about this ... and have all voted likewise.
We just want to be proud again.
Brussels, Belgium
rrrrooowwrrr!!
The key word Michelle Obama used was "really." She is really proud. However, MSNBC's Hardball this evening played a clip of her comments in Milwaukee, and the word ""really" was bleeped out. It is a disgrace that MSNBC would stoop to this. By using really as a adjective it is easy to infer that Michelle Obama has indeed been proud of her country, but in this case, she is really proud. The jerks who have harped on this, including all of Fox, Matthews, Scarborough, and the CNN crew have done her and the political discourse in this election season a great disservice.
Since there seems to be such a big 'to-do' over a few words, try these on for size:
"Bomb-bomb-bomb, bomb-bomb Iran".
I'll take Barack Obama over John ("He'll be more of the same") McCain anytime.
(BTW, I didn't know Michelle Obama was running for President!)
Hi to all the proud-of-the-country's-response-to 9-11 Michelle haters:
I'm just a history major from princeton. I'm black too btw so I guess that's the only reason I'm supporting Michelle and no opinions I have on her comments can be in any way objective - and we share the same alma mater. So you'll probably want to ignore everything I say. Just kidding that was sarcastic.
I just want to say I am concerned that no one (who is anti-Obama) seems to be able to remember any not so proud moments in American history before like 1965... This is problematic.
Also just to put a philosophical spin on things... someone said that she should be proud to have the first black astronaut etc. Well ... did it ever occur to you that in order for a "first" black anything to be significant, approximately four hundred years of oppression had to occur first? Sort of like a yin and yang thing, no good without evil. There is a flip side to every proud coin my simple friends.
And as a general note, I'm just not sure white people are really in a position to tell Michelle or any other minority when the country is perfect and we should stop complaining because we were given the vote 40 years ago. I mean, I could be wrong. PLease feel free to share your experiences with racism right here. I just did not think that experiencing racism was a daily part of life for white people....
digusted Your life seems to be fine, if you live in the past you never see the future. I'm white and owe you nothing unless you earn it. Me and family before me owned not one single person. Michelle is trash to me after her never proud of America crap. It's ass wipes like you that make racism live after all these years. Try to get a job and support your kids like a man and stop crying and take responsibility for yourself. I worked 40 years with many very fine people of color that were much smarter than me, and i had great respect for them. I worked with whites that were lazy and stupid as well as some that were wonderful. Just find some good in America and love the country that has done a lot for all of us.
Ha! I'm not proud of what America has done and has become. We can do better. I think people are reading way too far into this and I'm a Hillary supporter.
Gee, some of you folks are a bit nasty. What gives? Must be cheaper than a shrink. There must be other sites which are more civilized. I'm out of here. Who wants to join me?
I am proud of my country, I have been proud of my country since the first time I pledged allegiance to the flag. To even say "really proud" is a slap in the face to our country. There have been mistakes from the government of our country, but that is what we get for voting for the guy we would like to have a drink with instead of the candidate that had the most experience and could get the job done. I am disappointed by the comments made by M. Obama.
For the person, “disgusted” was the name they chose to use to post, racism comes in all forms. I am a 30 year old white women who has lived with a condition called Duane Syndrome all of my life. Most people just think I have crossed eyes or a lazy eye. I had to work twice as hard in school because having crossed eyes also means I must be stupid. Little time was given to me by my close-minded teachers and classmates. I went to college, different environment, graduated and then it started all over again when I tried to find a job. I have not been taken seriously my entire life; comedians make money on doing skits and movie making fun of people just like me.
Yet I am still proud of my country, because I have the ability to go to college, I have freedom of speech, I have choices on who I want to lead my country, I have freedom of religion or no religion if I chose, I have the right! There are all different types of racism. I really wish this race was not based on race, gender or sides. I wish that this race would be decided on who is truly the best person for our country.
Michelle, you go girl ... with your authenticity and candor. I'd rather hear what you have to say than the same old sheep-like patriotic blah, blah, blah. Goes to show YOU don't follow that old non-democratic patriotic crap that has so many people following blindly. Thanks for speaking your TRUTH rather than the regurgitation we heard from Mrs. McCain.
The mere fact that this has become an issue is just ridiculous. Her words have been purposely mis-interpreted for political gain. Michelle Obama said that for the first time in her adult life she had be "really" proud to be an American. McCain and his wife are rididulous for using her words out of context, implying that she said that it was the first time she had been proud to be an American, slyly taking out the "really" part. This is an important element because she said that it was the first time she had been "really" proud, which of course implies that he has previously been proud to be American.
I can see what Michele means - what is she, about 40?
She has seen 30 years of the Bush family and Clinton with Monica hanging on - really not something to be proud of on a daily basis.
Anyone ever hear the word "chauvinism"? Look it up.
Norman Mailor said it best, "I have had a love affair with this country all of my life------and I have been angry with it most of the time." And he was a WWII marine.
He was angry with it when it failed to live up to it's high ideals.
I agree with Norman.
She's UNTESTED and NOT READY.
I hardly think she or myself are the only ones that have been disturbed by trends in the U.S.? Of course we still have free speech, but with "hate laws" coming up it will soon be, "say what you want, but don't say anything negative."
Our country is founded on disenfranchised thinking, disallusionment and dissappointed idealism. We created a system where people can be critical of the system. Just as the constitution is considered a living document, allowed to evolve and be re-interprated, so to should our expecations of our government and society.
Our education has been in steady decline since WWII. More children are growing up knowing the name of Texas, but couldn't point to it on a map. But yet people say, "I've always been proud of my country" even though the bar is consistantly lowered to preserve peoples feelings.
We've been a society of catering to the lowest common denomonator instead of raising the bar and increasing our expectations. We've been a country ready to critisize our neighbor for mismanaging their lives, but not looking at ourselves objectively or critically to improve what we're doing.
We've sent out more jobs to countries in need instead of keeping them here and getting those in need to work them.
It's like the philanthropist who donates to the world but ignores his own family.
This is what she means when she's been disgusted with what has been and hopeful of what's to be.
That's the beauty, benefit and responsibility of being a citizen of the United States. You can have all the freedoms in the world, but to follow blindly is just being a lemming.
Watch out for the edge.
After 26 years I quit the Republican party in shame; "W" has seen to it that I am embarrassed to have been affiliated with the party, and, yes, ashamed of my American government. Obama stirs something I have not felt in a very long time . . . McCain is tired, Hillary is, well Hillary. This moderate ex-Republican would support Obama in the general election . . . .
An Open Letter to Cindy McCain
Dear Mrs. McCain,
I'm sincerely happy for you that you are proud of this country.
Proud of the JOB OUTSOURCING
Proud of the FAILED FOREIGN POLICY
Proud of the PITIFUL EDUCATION SYSTEM
Proud of the LACK OF AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE
Proud of CORPORATE CORRUPTION
Proud of AMERICAN CONSUMERS BEING RIPPED OFF WHILE EXECUTIVES MAKE
BILLIONS
Proud of THE WAY THE REST OF THE WORLD HATES US
Proud of A FAILING ECONOMY
Proud of REPUBLICANS ON ONE SIDE AND DEMOCRATS ON THE OTHER
Is this what are you proud of? My grandfather was a retired Air Force captain. I nearly followed in his footsteps. Make no mistake, I love this country, but I am NOT proud of the direction we've gone. And if you can honestly be proud of it, than there is something seriously wrong with your
principles. It is this exact EVERYTHING-IS-PERFECT-HEAD-IN-THE-SAND-REPUBLICAN-RHETORIC
that is the reason that THIS Republican is voting for BARACK OBAMA! This country needs a change that we can be proud of, cause right now there's not a whole lot there.
I will be PROUD to see Michelle Obama as the First Lady of this country. She has far more class than other candidates' spouses.
of course cindy mccain is proud of her country why not born into wealth, home wrecker, thief and drug addict. she should watch her mouth!
I think I know what Michelle meant. You remember how in the sixties Black Americans, formerly known as “Negroes,” would stand up and say, “I’m Black and I’m proud.” Well, now forty years later, after the enthusiastic support Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy has received from Americans of all colors and creeds, it’s finally possible for a Black American to stand up and say, “I’m American and I’m proud!” with the same heartfelt conviction. And that makes me, a White American, damn proud as well.
I think she meant that politics has been divisive since Reagan and that the Obama campaign makes her proud for the first time, about politics, because its brought together young and old, people of all races, independents, democrats, republicans,.... Thats what I think she meant. Theres nothing wrong with that.
But it sounded like shes the kind of person that hates America because its racist, and imperialist, etc.... And that does go with the church she and her husband go to, so it is possible that that is what she meant. And if she did, thats going to really hurt Obamas campaign. Obama goes to the same church too so this could rub off on him as well. They better clarify this now before it helps to define him, through his wife, as a black radical.
We certainly don't need people in the White House who say they have been ashamed of America all their lives. What kind of "inspiration" can people like that possibly offer us?
It sounds to me if he's elected, Obama will be the president representing the haters in this country. Simply reading the comments about this story, suggests that's the case. These Obama supporters make Rush Limbaugh look like Mister Nice Guy.
Michelle Obama is a loud mouthed hate filled bigot. Why you Obama sycophants choose to support and defend this vile creature is beyond me. I am against racism so I am against Huseein Obamas racist campaign that offers nothing but avergae rhetoric. As for Obamas whining about just words. There is a difference Rezko boy and the differtence is action. Talk is CHEAP, Actions speak louder than words. Obama has done nothing, therefore he offers nothing but prose. It may thrill uneducated blacks, but this college educated latino will vote for McCain before voting for Obama.
I have lived longer than Michelle, and I agree with exactly with what she said. Should we have been proud of the race riots and murder of Martin and Bobby in 1968? The Viet Nam war of 1965-1974? The election of Nixon and his corruption of 1968-1975? The pardon of Nixon in 1975? The quadrupling of our national debt in 1981-1989? The sex scandals of Clinton all through the 1990s? The election of George W. Bush in 2000? His re-election after he lied us into an illegal war in 2004? The current broken and bankrupt state of nearly our entire broken government?
You tell me, people.
And who can be proud to have so many people now in our country infected by ignorance and hatred and laziness - in the millions - represented by many of the posters above?
"Update: Here's a longer, and slightly different, version of the quote"
*chuckle*
there is no such thing as different versions of a quote.
journalism. sheesh. bad form.
Will you people please get a grip! What Michelle said is what every person of color in America, especially every Black American feels who has dealt with the Institutional racism that exists in this country. It is obvious what she meant! It is the essence of one of Dr. Kings speeches where he said that he "dreams of a day when when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands". That day has come with regards to Obama. All people of all backgrounds are voting for him. Not because he is a "Black" man running for office, but he is a "Good" man running for office. That is something to "REALLY" be proud of.
hey, what I and most Americans want to know is--did McCain have sex with that woman? Did he have a 3 way with her and Cindy? And who will replace Bill-O' when Roger Ailes fires him for wanting a "Lynching Party". Next thing ya know they'll fire somebody for saying Jigaboo or Nappy Headed Ho's. Now this is important stuff. Signed,
mouth breathin', NASCAR, deadbeat dad.
