CNN calls Maine for Obama. He leads 58-41 with 70 pct. counted, and will probably get a 15-9 edge in delegates.
This was a race where Clinton was probably a slight favorite, because of the influence of her stirring victory in neighboring NH. Instead, Obama gets five wins this weekend, and is the favorite in three more races coming up on Tuesday.
And Maine's significance should not be discounted: It is predominately white, working class. Hillary won in neighboring NH and Massachusetts. Maine's two US senators are women, so the gender line was passed long ago. Hillary had the support of the current governor. And at this point, the margin is pretty big.
UPDATE: Matthew Yglesias, sarcastically:
"Back in October 2007, Clinton was beating Obama in Maine by a hilarious 47 to 10 margin, but it seems he's carried the state today, once again by a large margin. My understanding, though, is that this doesn't really count because it's a small state, much as Utah doesn't count because there aren't many Democrats there, DC doesn't count because there are too many black people, Washington doesn't count because it's a caucus, Illinois doesn't count because Obama represents it in the Senate even though Hillary was born there, Hawaii won't count because Obama was born there. I'm not sure why Delaware and Connecticut don't count, but they definitely don't.

But I guess the NEW YORK ONE WISEGUYS are running for cover. The 'FEDS" are going after 'WISEGUYS' big time.
